for the Dallas Cowboys.

IMHO, it will take some real kind of Cinderella team miracle now for backup Kyle Orton to win against the Eagles and take the Cowboys further into the playoffs. He had played in relief for the Cowboys the last two years, but appearing in just three games and throwing just 15 passes as Romo's backup.

It can happen Jeff, like they say, "on any giving Sunday" anything could happen. We just have to wait and see.

All right!. The Mean Green, University of North Texas (former North Texas State University) from Denton, TX, won their second bowl game in history today. 36-14 over UNLV! I graduated High School in Denton, TX being raised 16 miles out of town. Glad to see it. BTW, their last Bowl victory was in 1946, the Optimist Bowl which they won 13-12 over Pacific.

The British Red Monster, Manchester United, is no longer the top club of the Premier League any more after Sir Alex Ferguson has retired. A home defeat yesterday against Tottenham Hotspur, final score 1-2.

Arsenal is currently on the top the list. It's very promising team this season. For the Red Monster, I'm afraid it can't even join UEFA cup next year. The once heroic lion now becomes a sick cat. Sight!

Remember, United has traditionally began to peak right after the New Year. This being a transitional year, and what can be more unsettling than replacing the (almost?) irreplaceable Sir Alex Ferguson? Under these circumstances, David Moyes, the new manager, has in my opinion done quite a remarkable job. Their Champions League performances speak for themselves: Qualifying comfortably from their group, with a solid home record and an amazing demolition of Leverkusen away.

That a team with such a good European performance would only place 7th in the Premier League is more reflective of the quality of the league. No less than 5 to 6 teams have a legitimate chance of winning it this season. Any fan can only relish the drama and excitement in the next 5 months in seeing who would be crowned champions!

Well, that is... until the World Cup in June :D

San Francisco 49ers Ignore Frigid Temperatures, Beat Green Bay to Advance in Playoffs

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The team from California survived the elements to win the modern version of the "Ice Bowl."49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was born in Wisconsin and didn't wear long sleeves for the frigid game, had a huge 11-yard run on third-and-8 with 1:07 left to set up a game-winning field goal by Phil Dawson. Dawson's 33-yard kick gave the 49ers a 23-20 victory at Lambeau Field. The 49ers will move on to face Carolina in the next round of the playoffs. The game was played in bone-chilling cold. The temperature was five degrees at kickoff, with a wind chill of 10 below zero. Both figures dipped as the night went on. That didn't seem to bother Kaepernick, who made some huge plays down the stretch to put the 49ers in position to win.The 49ers absolutely dominated the first quarter, out-gaining Green Bay 118 yards to 6. But, two trips inside the red zone produced just two field goals. The Packers finally got going after Tramon Williams intercepted Kaepernick, then lowered his shoulder into the quarterback trying to make the tackle. That got the Lambeau crowd going, and on the ensuing drive Aaron Rodgers hit Jordy Nelson for a 5-yard touchdown. The 49ers took a 13-10 lead into halftime.

The quarterbacks traded great plays early in the fourth quarter. Rodgers escaped two 49ers defenders on a fourth and 2 to find Randall Cobb downfield for a first down pass. That led to a touchdown and a Packers lead. Kaepernick grabbed the lead back for the 49ers on a fantastic pass to Vernon Davis with two Packers defenders in coverage. That gave San Francisco a 20-17 lead.Green Bay tied the game 20-20 with 5:06 left on Mason Crosby's 24-yard field goal. The Packers almost made a game-turning play on the next drive, but cornerback Micah Hyde dropped a potential interception. On the next play, Kaepernick bought time on a third-and-10 and hit Michael Crabtree over the middle to keep the drive alive. Then Kaepernick's run outside to the left on third-and-8 moved the ball to Green Bay's 27-yard line, setting up Dawson for a game-winning kick.
