Actually, they lost! Houston could've finished them off in regulation, but they needed two OT's to beat Toronto because of that decision by the coach not to foul...

LOL... what are you complaining about then? :D

I've got a basketball question. Let's say we are at the last possession of the game. your team is up by 3 points and the opposing team has the possession of the ball. What do you do? I would foul the ball handler and let them shoot two foul shots and get the possession back. I would not risk their 3-point specialists shooting 3's and tie the game.

I asked this question because of last night's NBA game between Houston and Toronto. Houston led by 3 at the last possession and Toronto had the ball. Coach McKale decided not to foul and Gay made a 3 and tied the game, which ended up being dragged to 2 OT's. I got so frustrated when finding out that Coach McKale decided not to foul. And I got MAD when Gay drilled that 3-pointer and tied the game.:mad::mad:

So what would you do in that situation? I know I would foul.

I agreed, but you have to make sure to foul him hard enough before he takes a shot at the 3 point line WITH the foul call and than you might end up with a four point play or 3 shots at the free throw line.

Which is why you have to wait until the ball handler puts the ball on the floor (meaning he is not actively shooting the ball), then foul. And Gay did exactly that. He dribbled 2-3 times before he shot the ball. I would have told the guy guarding Gay to foul him immediately when he puts the ball on the floor. Then they didn't have to take 2 OT's to beat them...

I am about to pull my hair out :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Houston was in the same situation again! Last possession of the game and they had a 3 point lead. What did they do? They gave up a 3 and went to OT and eventually lost the game. FOUL them! If your opponents adopt a hack-a-Howard strategy, you should hack someone to prevent a 3!!! McKale is driving me nuts!!!

I think it's time to fire McHale and bring back Rudy Tomjanovich as head coach.

I'm against fouling as a tactical ploy.If it occurs in the last minute of the game, the fouled team should be gifted double points without taking the penalty shots as well as be given the ball from centre court.

Just reviewing sporting results from around the world last month I notice China only one one medal to USA,s eight in the world gymnastics championship comp. While I don't really follow gymnastics, I reckon that's gotta be one of their worst performances ever or is the rest catching up?

that won't work. How can referees tell intentionally fouling vs. legitimate fouling during normal defense? If that is the case, you are giving the offense unfair advantage since defense is no longer able to be effective. On the other hand, the league has rules against this kind of intentional fouling at the end of the game. That is why the opposing team gets a foul shot AND the possession of the ball if you foul away from the ball in the last 2 minutes of the game. However, it is completely legit to foul the ball handler since you must allow the defense to defend, thus making fouling the ball handler legitimate. You wait until the guy puts the ball on the floor, indicating that he is not in motion to shoot the ball. If you foul the guy when he simply holds the ball in his hands, he will throw the ball up and pretends he is shooting the ball. Then they get 3 foul shots. So you must wait until he puts the ball on the floor.

Here's how my top twelve, favorite College football teams faired this week:

Brigham Young lost to Wisconsin 17-27
Boise State won over Wyoming 48-7
Auburn won over Georgia 43-38
Rice won over Louisiana Tech 52-14
Texas lost to Oklahoma State 13-38
Texas A&M had a bye
Baylor won over Texas Tech 63-34
Oklahoma won over Iowa State 48-10
University of Houston lost to Louisville 13-20
Texas Christian lost to Kansas State 31-33
Navy won over South Alabama 41-13
North Texas had a bye

Six wins, four losses and two byes.

The Auburn-Georgia game was a great game with that unbelievable catch to allow Auburn to win. And that after Georgia overcame a 37-17 Auburn lead in the 4th quarter to go ahead 38-37 with just over 2 minutes left.
