Is it just me or are the intakes very large compared to the size of the fuselage? It looks a bit disproportionate. either that or the J-50 is smaller than it seems. If you look at a picture of a J-35 or F-22 for example the intake is smaller in comparison to the fuselage.
The geometric dimensions of the intakes can be misleading, since each intake’s frontal projection is essentially a triangle (side, bottom, and the sloped side of the nose section) instead of the more traditional quadrilateral-ish shape you find on CARET or DSI intakes. I suspect the total frontal area of the intake is comparable to something like F22 or J20, it’s just that it’s designed in a way that makes it look bigger as a consequence

no that was you checking your secondary browser ;)
Lies! I would never cheat on my beloved J-XS! How could any human flesh possibly compare to her metallic beauty, all shiny and chrome? (Yes, I am mentally ill.)

BTW, what's with the wonky wheel? Is it being retracted or another AI enhancement? The wheel details look atrocious on the photo. :(

Safe to say, I think there's only so much we can infer from these photos. But, I am at least grateful for the it. Now we just need one from the front with the canopy and the intakes especially, and another with the engines/rear for the full picture.

Its just AI nonsense. I have a simple rule, if its AI enhanced no point looking at details. Everything apart from broad shapes gets mangled beyond recognition.

In the original picture it does seem a bit wonky, but there's not enough resolution and it could seem wonky for many reasons. AI has just exaggerated that.

On the intakes, i cannot but think of the T-75 intake, if one imagine that kind of intake but split in two for two engines probably would get quite close to how the J-50 intakes look like. Very early on there was some drawing speculation on the intakes, and from the front at least they reminded very much of T-75's intake from the same angle.

Can this fighter jet be equipped with PL17?

Quite unlikely. The main IWB (or IWBs, if split in two) on the J-XDS is/are expected to be of similar length as the IWBs on the J-20/A/S and J-35/A. This precludes anything significantly longer than the PL-15.

TBH, if the IWB(s) can load 6x PL-16s, that'd be good enough for the J-XDS's intended roles and position in the system.

Unlikely. There is also no need, if j36 is there, present in the formation.

And hopefully loyal wingman UCAVs. Even better would be UCAVs with long enough IWBs (7-8 meters) for combat operations in stealth mode.
