I'm thinking that China doesn't trust the CCA concept, they don't think drones are mature enough to be useful in the sort of roles US has been trying to put them into in the last few years.

So this fighter is to act as a manned CCA to the J-36. Even if it doesn't have any more surprises than was shown, it's still going to be the best medium to short range a2a duelist out of all known fighter jets. Just by virtue of being essentially a F-22 with all aspect stealth and 2024s electronics.

That means when it interfaces with the J-36, it can achieve incredible results.

Well, manned CCA is kind of an oxymoron. The whole point of CCA is to have unmanned attritionable forward element to take all the risk for manned fighter. I do think there is a true CCA in the work not shown yet

The War Zone must be suffering from whiplash.
Well to be fair, I think people are not appreciating just the human capital advantage that China has.

it’s an overcapacity in aerospace talent that is producing overcapacity in next generation aircraft. I think it will be interesting to see how America react because throwing money at the problem won’t solve it. Talking doesn’t solve problems. America has a structural disadvantage.

You write that the J-36 is 26m long, but Jason's calculation puts it at only 22m. Is the 26m a typo, or did you find a mistake in his calculations?
I don’t know. This is what the person I am quoting is saying. He was the guy who had the original 3 engine sketch. We will find out I guess.

Without either a profile view or a *perfectly* 90 degree ventral or dorsal view there will always be some angular rotation that skews estimates, especially if your reference object isn’t rotated to the same degree. *Furthermore* if the reference object being used as a ruler isn’t sitting at the same distance from the camera as the object you’re trying to measure there will also be errors in relative scaling.

Could we get a decent CGI of this please, from a few angles. Or at least something that’s close, from a research paper or similar.

We’ve got some J-XDC / JH-XX / J(H)-36, Type 076, even Type 004 - but none for J-XDS.
