The kill-chain for PL-17 and other very long range AAMs can easily be disrupted or broken.
As easy as how any other kill chain can be disrupted, you mean. You think CCAs are just sitting there waiting to get destroyed?
And if you are going to fly in CCA close to the frontlines to detect targets, why not arm them with missiles to get the job done.

The point is if your CCAs are destroyed and the target/boogie is still flying and closing in, are you going to turn around and high-tail from the battle?

The point is to have them there to shoot at the enemy when they are getting close. Never heard of how 5th gens fight? If your missiles don't hit, run away to fight another day. Same concept here but with a longer stick, more missiles and more options.
Air battles will be more complex and have more tactics than what I'm making it to be but this is just the basics.
Well, you really sound like you don't understand them to be frank. Like you don't even know AWACs, dedicated sensor drones or even CCAs with missiles exist.
It doesn't matter if the enemy can disrupt your kill chain, the very fact they HAVE to disrupt it is the point. The guy with the bigger stick wins. If you just keep huddling about as if that doesn't matter, then when the day comes, you'll be taking hits before you can hit back.
