Weird, CCTV news just mentioned a mockup was spotted on Liaoning [listen carefully in the first 10 seconds]. Not sure if they're just quoting from fanboy rumors or actually it's true.

I'm almost sure they simply report about the report reported in Western media reports ..

I don't understand a word from it, having only had 20 hours learning Chinese, but when "J-31" is permanently on the screen during ten minutes something interesting should have been said. What were they talking about?

From what I can garner from the video, the conversation is mostly about the practicality of the J-31 as a carrier plane. The story frequently draws comparisons between the J-31 and the F-35, including the F-35's variants. In my opinion, one of the important parts of the video is when they mentioned that if the J-31 ever serves aboard a carrier, it would need several changes, such as a higher payload capacity. Another interesting bit is about the future indigenous aircraft carriers and their potential to carry the J-31.

Actually confirming our early suspicions that the J-31 was intended to live onboard one of China's indigenous carriers at some point in the future, as I stated earlier, it seems the J-31 is more likely "tech demonstrator" at this stage, than a pre-production prototype. I would say that Zuhai is a golden opportunity for the J-31 to shine or not? I hope this aircraft garners the acclaim that propels it into the lime-light as the "top-cover" for the indigenous carriers, no doubt this is a very attractive aircraft, and poised to move into the lime-light and steal the show........

Sun Cong all but validated that he will use the J-31 as a basis for the next gen carrier aircraft. Nothing new, really.
