But, just the same...she's com'in at ya! LOL!

Nice picture Jeff, I suppose that's the cannon on the left shoulder???? what kind of a gun does it have???? I would confess that the F-35 has grown on me, albeit slowly, I still maintain that it was a sorry trade to save the F-35, to cancel the Raptor, oh the pain, the pain! brat

It has a 4 barrel, 25mm Gatling gun, I would sooner have 50 lb tumor grow on me than the f-35.

As to the raptor, it really was already doomed by the design trade offs made before the first preproduction airframe ever saw light of day. It was a plane much better in theory for air superiority over central and eastern Europe then what the cascade of questionable requirements actually made her for air superiority in the pacific. The decision to stick with thrust vectoring and supercruising pretty much made her a bad fit for actual US requirements.

As soon as the cold war ended, the f-22 should have been completely redesigned with emphasis shifted to range and stealth over every other requirement.

I for one like the look of the F35. Sure it's a bit chubby all around, but in a tight way, like a penguin under water. The J31 is sleek, but that's how all jet fighters are supposed to look so it seems a bit boring to me. Anyways, nothing that important, just looks!

Brat, it's the General Dynamics four barreled, 25mm GAU-22/A Equalizer Gatling cannon, with 180 rounds.

...and, Brat, I know you have seen some of her high divergent off angle of attack capabilities, so she has a LOT more to offer down in the weeds than most people realize to make use of that gun if she has to.

F-35 reminds me more of a pig than a penguin. The only fighter to give f-35 a run for the money in ugliness is its stablemate, the x-32. That thing looks like some deep sea creature slithering mouth agap in the dark rather something that ought to fly through the air in daylight.

Well this will be my last OT on this because we are really talking about the J-31 here, but I think the F-35 looks fine and will do fine. Probably follow in the F-16 mold in terms of how widely she is ultimately used, and how well she does in her various roles.

I don't think j-31 is much of looker either.

All stealth fighters ever flown, except the much lamented yf-23, somehow lack organic flow to their lines when viewed from most angles. Their sit gracelessly on the ground, and when in air their lines seem to struggle to fit a mold rather flow naturally and pleasingly.

I believe only the Alpha will have the GAU22.. the Navy and Marine variants will not carry any internal cannon which IMHO is a mistake..
