This was posted by Brocolli in another forum. Is this the J-31? Looks like the guy that just passed so I assume this is SAC.
So is are the RD-93s the intended engines to power the J-31s? What ever happened to the WS-13 Taishan engines? Wouldn't it make sense to have an improved, more powerful and more efficient Chinese engine on a Chinese fighter-jet? Is it destined to be that China would keep on importing engines from Russia, would there be a day when China is 100% independent and pioneering in engine technology and innovation.
"BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Foreign media reports have claimed that China's new J-15 carrier-borne fighter jet is merely a copy of a Russian model. Such an assertion is groundless and sour.
t is not surprising that some western media quickly responded to the inspiring news with criticism and taunts, since the J-15, with an unfinished coating during the exercise had a similar aerodynamic shape with the Russian Su-33 jet.
There is always criticism of China for the crime of "plagiarism" when the country makes progress in military hardware development, questioning China's respect to others' intellectual property rights and belittling the hardware's technological and tactical qualities.
It is true that China used to rely heavily on imported Russian military aircraft, warships and other hardware to modernize its troops due to a lack of independent innovation abilities.
But people should not use that as an excuse for criticising Chinese people who have made tough endeavors and even sacrifices in developing the J-15's engine, fire-control system, electronics system and other key components."
If Xinhua or SAC reject the idea that J-15 was a clone copy of SU-33, then the only solution to clear this things up was to allow the foreigner to inspect the aircraft.but to what I see it is copy of SU-33,except the avionic system.
the commision of carrier is more of political symbolic than military.
China use to complain that China is the only countries in UN security council do not possess aircraft carrier. with liaoning CV finally fill the (political) gap.
same reason why brazil decided to purchased Ex french CV.
some chinese blogger claim that only few number of J-15 were produced. and zhuhai airshow, SAC told aviation week that they currently developing carrier borne fighter.
like any countries,US man of the moon project was purely political propaganda , trying to tell the russian that our system and science is better than yours, east germany invest heavely in athletic program was also part of the propaganda tool against west germany.socialism is superior to degenerate capitalist west.
China needed the carriers for symbolic and political propaganda reason.
That has to be the dumbest political tool I've heard of. The US could prove their scientific knowledge was ahead of the USSR's and East Germany could prove the superiority of their athletes. What can China prove? That they have but a mere fraction of the US's prowess? It's like the small kid at school going "hey guys, look at my miniature muscles" or the dumb kid going "hey guys, look at my 4/20 score". When your carrier is THAT behind another's in technology, it would be best if you used it as a practical tool and not a political tool.
