Well western 'experts' are kinda stuck in a bind with the J31. It is similar enough to the F22 and F35 that any cheap shots about it will easily reflect back onto their own babies.

I think the Indian and Russian trolls will bash it in the same way they bashed the J20, but western fanboys will probably stay far more quiet and just stick to whining about alleged hacking/copying and spread baseless speculation about whether the Chinese can actually make RAM.

Put other things aside, J-31 does like F-35 except the rear section, twin engines vs. single engine. But this could be the results of similar mathematical models used for stealth design. Still this is another historical moment for Chinese aviation industry, after the first flight of J-20.

Beautiful... I think Lockheed Martin might be sweating right now. They no longer have monopoly on medium size 5th gen jet anymore.

It's nice and clean now, but so was the X-35.

How much bloat this gains (or doesn't), depends on a lot of things we don't know yet, like how close this is to the final production design, what the J-31 is ultimately for, etc.

Weren't there better estimates from previous images? (I mean the images of it when it wasn't fully assembled yet.)
