An undercover U.S. agent posing as a seller of carbon fiber later emailed Zhang, inviting him to the United States to meet about a possible deal. On Aug. 10, Zhang told the agent that he was the middleman for a customer that "needed a sample of the carbon fiber because it would be used for the test flight of a 'fighter plane' on Oct. 5, 2012," the complaint says.

The americans can do something, arrest people like this guy and design better aircraft, this is not the end of the world for the US airpace in fact it might be good, it will simply accelerate the design of their next generation fighter

Once again, US having export restriction to China is not indicative of anything. Chinese stealth fighter prototypes are still in the sky despite what the article and NikeX want you to believe.

affirms just how meaningless those restriction can be. The article talked about vibration platforms that are used in the aerospace sector in roles such as vibration and shock testing of satellites. The US bans such an item above certain weight class to China, yet it is China who exported bigger and better version to the US.

In conclusion, the US's export restriction of that particular carbon fiber has no meaning whatsoever with regard to whether China can produce high quality carbon fibers.

i never said china can not produce RAM or composite materials, i just mention what the americans think, and under what circumstances the claim China might use the materials and according to them

Zhang told the agent that he was the middleman for a customer that "needed a sample of the carbon fiber because it would be used for the test flight of a 'fighter plane' on Oct. 5, 2012,"

So just see that according them the middle man was buying for an aircraft, test in my opinion most likely J-31 or J-20

I am not concerned with what the Americans think; I just concern with facts. As to that particular quote from the article, it is borderline fictional. You don't use carbon fiber to test flight an aircraft. Seriously, how would you do that? Hang the aircraft off of a thread made of carbon fiber attached to a helicopter?

China already made the J-20 and 310. This says China is perfectly capable of producing its own materials for use on both aircraft. Both article and NikeX want you to believe Chinese stealth fighter programmes are somehow dependent on that smuggling job, which is out of the realm of reality.

If the photographer here is in the same postion this might be an accurate measure. I think the poster in another site where I got this from said 17m-18m?

The 2 planes also have to be from the same distance from the building too.
The photographer was probably at a rather large distance so difference of the distances of the planes to the building is of little influence. But is the angle between the fuselage axis and the sight line of the photographer near enough the same in these two photographs?
I think it is correct and a claimed precision of 5% is reasonable.

You can see the two nozzles of the 310 in the picture, which means the plane doesn't take up all the space between the yellow lines. I think the length might actually be closer to 15~16m.
