Posted by eagle over at CDF... hmm... Hmm.. HMMM...
If I'm not mistaken, this photo is the J-8V which came out about two or three years ago. I've got a color pix of it. It looks rather cool but was totally a fan art.
Are you sure? I did a quick google and I got this...
Doesn't quite look like the drawing I posted but looks like a nice enough plane. Like JF-17 or something.
I don't think that drawing (the black/white one you quoted) is fan art -- it shows very distinct similarities with the model shown in the picture, that I think we can assume that drawing is what the real plane (J-19 or JH-7B or whwatever) looks like.
In other words, you still need a buyer. If you have no one interested your prototype isn't going anywhere.
Does the J-11B have any airframe modifications?
It's not the J-8V, they look completely different.
But the black/white photo could still be fan art.
All we know for sure is that the photo is real.
EDIT: Huitong doesn't think the drawing is of the J-19. He says the J-19 is a single seat multirole fighter, not a striker. Maybe this is the JH-XX? Might support my theory that SAC and XAC could have cooperated on a strike fighter.
I don't think this is the JH-7B. The JH-7B changes are not great enough to make it a 5th generation fighter, and it doesn't include the suspected upgrades such as DSI, etc. Is is not probable that they will build a new JH-XX, because we are past the age of fighter bombers.
J-8V was supposed to be a parody drawing by Chinese military fans ridiculing the SAC's inability to innovate. I can't believe you guys are actually taking this seriously. We'll be laughing stocks once some one finds out about this thread and translates it into Chinese.
