Huitong claimed Sept will be the first flight trial.. That means end of Sept? I really hope this plane has TVC engines.
Its conventional layout will make TVC necessary unlike J-10 and J-20.

So I will tell something I know.
Since Shenyang failed in the bidding, they had no choice but use their own money to build such a new fighter...

What is this? The robust twin nose wheel gear points to a carrier aircraft, not to a cheap LO fighter for Pakistan. The main task of 16 and its kind will be the defense of a naval fleet with its AEW and ASW and anti-ship missile carrying aircraft, the whole defended by dedicated fighters. I think "J-31" might be that fighter, while J-15 will be the striker. This aircraft will only carry AA ordnance and have as much fuel as possible. No compromises for anything else, very different from F-35.
