ah yea, i see it now

engines look just like RD-33 to me
do we have any well documented WS-13 photo anywhere? is it a straight equivalent to the RD-33, or something a bit different?

that gap makes me think those are just temporary, and certainly not LO friendly

WS-13 suppose to be a straight copy of RD-93. So appearance wise, you cant differential it. Much PLAAF has much higher requirement. It wanted to up the thrust of the original RD-93 from 8300kg to at least 9500kg.

WS-13 was reported to be tested more than a year ago from reliable Chinese source connected to CAVIC.. It was reported already tested on a JF-17 Pt04 Prototype. But since WS-13 and RD-93 looks similiar in nozzle, we cant be sure.

Shenyang is bad at playing this game, i'm not even half as excited as the J-20 moments :)

Of course nothing beats the J-20 moment because it signaled a shift beyond the J-20 itself but this year seems to be very exciting. Now if we can see the Y-20 before year's end...

Regarding the engine gap... could it be there' something like a saw-toothed ring they haven't installed yet?

could be fitted with such cover, but will not be effective if the nozzles themselves are not taken into account
and if it's not assembled now, i wonder what provision they reserving them for

escobar, just google DEW(Distant Early Warning) flightglobal and Ares Aviation Week blog

edit : just saw xinhui posted a bigger image, those gaps are huge, like 30-50cm
