As it's based off the BMP-3 platform, it's not going to cost much and production can be seemless.

The gun is AA meant to deal with drones and other low flying targets. But it can be turned against ground targets and it uses air burst ammunition besides. Besides it's a 57mm, that's a lot more punch than a 30mm. The vehicle can give some defense against drones and can be used to deal with targets on high rise and elevation.

As the BMD-4M is getting programmable timed air burst 30mm, I will assume it's safe to say future batches of BMP-3, BTR-82A, BMP-2M, BMP-1AM, and the BMPT-72 might get it pending upgrades on their fire control systems. The ammunition will not work on older models with a modification on the FC. Have air burst ammunition can go a long way in turning the 2A42 and 2A72 30mm guns into legit AA, along with night vision.

To answer the question, maybe the BMP-2 or 2M has an elevation of 75 degrees so it wins. But what's elevated on the BMP-3 happens to be a 100mm gun, not a 30mm. It can lob a 100mm shell or an ATGM right at a high rise. On top of that, the gun can be used like a legit howitzer with indirect fire and having a drone adjust for that fire.

Footage of Russian assault cavalry training. The idea came from a unit commander with the call sign "Khan" from the 9th Brigade of the 51st Russian Army. He explained that assault troopers in full gear have to march 10-15 kilometers, then return, leaving them exhausted. Horses are also used to transport ammunition and evacuate the wounded in areas where armored vehicles cannot penetrate. The soldiers are currently training on Karachay horses. The cavalrymen work in tandem with drones. The new method could prove an effective complement to the work of motorized groups and armored vehicles in difficult terrain.

some info at 5 year anniversary of Ka-52M flight. It seem extensively used against UAV and its radar can deal with it. protection of troops against UAVs is direct quote.

Today, the Ka-52M is successfully used in the Air Defense Zone and remains the most advanced Russian attack helicopter.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Superalligator is in demand for solving a wide range of tactical tasks in key areas of the Air Defense Forces.
"We use this helicopter for a variety of missions, from providing cover for ground forces with unguided rockets (unguided missiles – RT ) to accurately shooting down UAVs in the air with a guided missile. The Ka-52 is a maneuverable and multi-role helicopter, and new models are equipped with even more precise and powerful onboard equipment, which increases mission effectiveness," the Russian Defense Ministry press service quoted a Ka-52M navigator, call sign "Raketa," as saying.


"The radar integrated into the Ka-52M's targeting system can accurately and adaptively detect incoming targets. By collecting information from the sensors, it will detect the drone long before the drone spots the Super Alligator. The helicopter itself will 'tell' the pilot who's flying, where they're coming from, and what to do. This means the likelihood of an FPV drone hitting the Ka-52M is extremely low," Popov explains.
