UAC handed over another batch of Su-35S aircraft to Russian troops
The government reported that the multi-functional fighters passed a cycle of ground and flight tests and "made a flight from the KnAAZ airfield to the place of duty"
MOSCOW, 3 December. /TASS/. The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) of Rostec has transferred a batch of Su-35S multi-role fighters to the Russian troops, according to the website of the Russian government.
The UAC aviation enterprise in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (PJSC UAC is part of the Rostec state corporation) has manufactured and handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense another batch of new Su-35S aircraft.
The government also reported that the multifunctional fighters had passed a cycle of ground and flight tests and "made a flight from the KnAAZ airfield to the place of duty."
"Today, the production capacities of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant are fully loaded. We supply aviation equipment within the time frame stipulated by the contracts, meeting the needs of the Russian Ministry of Defense in modern aviation complexes. To fulfill production programs, the enterprise continues technical re-equipment and re-equipment with the necessary equipment," - the press service quotes the words of the general director of the UAC, Yuri Slyusar.
The report also notes that in 2022, over 500 new production workers and engineers were employed at KnAAZ. The same number of new specialists are planned to be recruited for workers and engineering specialties next year.
That part of the sanctions I had seen somewhere but I couldn't verify. Does this mean that the CJ-2000 is a permanent replacement for the PD-35 for the CR929?
What I got from reading a bunch of disparate news was that the construction of the test bench for the PD-35 is delayed. They were likely going to use foreign contractors to design and build it, the PD-14 test bench was built by a Canadian company for example, this is a large test bench which can test serial produced engines. So they basically are going to cobble up a test bench for PD-35 using existing facilities close to their plant and once that is ready in like a couple of years they will test the PD-35. The gas generator for the PD-35 engine has already gone through its tests and I heard nothing about problems with that. In fact they said it had less problems than PD-14 when it was in a similar stage of the design cycle. But they need the test bench to test the whole engine on the ground.
Now, this is my own opinion, but there is another test bench in Russia which might be able to test PD-35, the test bench which was used to design the NK-32 engine at Samara, and which is being modified to test the Izdeliye RF engine for the PAK DA. But Samara is a fair bit away from Perm so I kind of doubt they want to use that. Probably will also be busy with Izdeliye RF like I said.
