Russia to Unveiled New Su-35 Fighter Engine at

Rostec will demonstrate an engine for its famous Sukhoi Su-35 at Le Bourget, the company said on Monday.

LE BOURGET (Sputnik) — Russia's state technology corporation Rostec will showcase an engine for its famous (Flanker-E) at the world’s oldest air show in France, the company said on Monday.

Some 37 Russian organizations are expected to be among 2,000 participants from 46 countries at the week-long 51st Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport kicking off on Monday.

"We expect the professional community to devote a lot of attention to the AL-41F1S (Izdeliye 117S) engines installed on Russia’s multifunctional Su-35 fighter aircraft," a corporate representative told RIA Novosti.

The new engines, it was explained, are intended to serve as transitional engines for fifth-generation jet fighters and will be manufactured by a Rostec subsidiary, the United Engine Corporation (ODK).

The will feature a 1-3 scale mockup of the bypass turbofan engine with a thrust-vector-controlled afterburner designed for Su-35/35S jets.

The Su-35 fighter was first introduced to a foreign audience at the in 2013 as a heavily upgraded derivative of the multirole fighter touted as "4++ generation."

Russia and Slovakia may sign an agreement for upgrade of Mi-17 helicopters soon, TASS reports with reference to Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.

“I hope that the agreement for upgrade of Mi-17 helicopters (and other vehicles) carried out in Slovakia will be signed soon,” Fico said.

He also said that Bratislava is interested in upgrading its S-300 air defense systems. “I would like to admit that Slovakia is interested in upgrading S-300 systems,” Fico said.

The Slovakian Prime Minister also noted that his country is interested in Russian civil aviation. In particular, Sukhoi SuperJet 100 and “Tu” (Tupolev) civil aircraft were demonstrated to the delegation prior to departure.

China and Russia will conduct their largest joint Pacific exercise in August near Japan, Russian Navy planners announced on Friday.

Since 2011, Russia and China have conducted regular joint exercises.

Last year was the largest series of exercises, the Russian Navy and the PLAN drilled with 14 surface ships, two submarines, aviation assets and special operation forces (SOF), according to Chinese media.

The Pacific drills follow the first ever joint Chinese-Russian exercise in the Mediterranean sea earlier this year. The much smaller exercise featured three Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and six Russian.

In November, said Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the combined military-to-military between China and Russia partnership was growing.

“We believe that the main goal of pooling our effort is to shape a collective regional security system,” Shoigu said.
“We also expressed concern over U.S. attempts to strengthen its military and political clout in the [Asia-Pacific Region].”
