Another China please help mother Russia economically but don't say it to the world welfare system?Russia could send S-400 to china soon, according to this article.
Yeah, not like we have heard that for the 5th year running................Russia could send S-400 to china soon, according to this article.
At this point of time, I really stopped being impressed with whatever Russia could sell to China. Time really does matters in these kind of sales, every year of delay means another year of R&D on that particular field for China. To be fair the su35's equally long drawn out soap opera turned out to be factual

By the time the S-400 does makes its appearance in China, chances are that China would already have a domestic equivalent that is at least as good, if not better than what they were offering in the first place. Even if there isn't the R&D done would have seriously lessen whatever chances there is of future purchases.
The Su-35 purchase was perhaps one of the most drawn out and painful sales pitch that Russia could ever do. And a one off sum of 2 billion seems hardly worth it in the long run. But there is a lot more to the deal that we are not privy to.
Russia really needs to pick up a book on how to be a better salesman..................
True, while there is no official documents to support it. We must assume that China has made improvements on the HQ-9 which was first introduced in 1997, not just on blind assumption but based on the improvements that they have made with all of their weapons (HQ-16 to HQ-16B for example).Well, there is hardly anything (apart from engine) that Russia could offer China right now ..... even now I believe China already have SAM system as good (if not better) than S-400. Russia should have sold S-400 to China 5-10 years ago. China has the latest HQ-9 variant like HQ-9C .. also HQ-26 and HQ-29
I would be as surprised as SU-35 sell ... if China indeed buy S-400 system

I agree with your point, Russia should have pitched the s-400 to China as soon as it was operational in 2007 if it ever hoped of securing any significant sales. It cannot expect the success of the s-300 to repeat itself again in light of China's military R&D.
The Chinese have already inducted, or is in advanced stages of testing, the HQ-29 interceptor which should be a S-400/PAC-3 equivalent. So there really is no point in rushing the delivery of S-400s at this point.
