Rosatom is investing into a lot of alternative energy technology. Because they have their fiber production, they went into producing windmills. Because they produce nuclear electricity they want to increase its applications, so they went into EVs. Again because of the carbon fibers they are now into hydrogen fuel cells, and COPV hydrogen fuel tanks.
They just acquired a 49% state in one of the biggest Russian transport companies, the Delo Group, to develop the NSR.
Rosatom is metastizing into a real monster of a company. A state within a state.

This is much indepth analysis about $600b electric upgrade which is conservative scenario. and this include extreme load management with supercomputers like putting Data Centers more than 10,000km apart. I think these robotics and data centers are energy intensive. This for a country that single family home construction corner stone of its demographic policy and off the grid power supply.

Russia's Energy Sector 2025-2042: 88 GW of New Generation and 47 Trillion Rubles in Investment

Fedor Opadchiy, Chairman of the Board of JSC System Operator of the Unified Energy System:

The figure of 40 trillion in investments is the minimum, I would say, because the scenarios were very conservative.
Investments of 2 trillion are only in the main networks until 2026. We have a large accumulated underfunding for the development of distribution networks, we are lagging behind in maintaining the energy system within standard parameters.
If you place two data centers at opposite ends of the country, you can regulate the load. Since the sun shines from east to west, peak consumption also moves in that direction.
The cost of telecoms and local automation systems is constantly falling, making it possible and economically feasible to reach ever-smaller consumers who can participate in load balancing, which will smooth out the peak of major investments if we pursue traditional development. If a power station is built for the consumer's maximum capacity, and they consume 20% of their peak load several times a year and only meet this peak once, then the consumer will become an active participant in the energy system. We have the first pilot program that calculates risks and optimal modes taking flexible balancing into account, but we need to further develop this technology.

Next-generation windows: Russian development will make glass generate electricity

October 14, 2025, 7:06 PM
Russian engineers have developed the first next-generation solar panels that can be used directly in windows and glass building facades. Norilsk Nickel specialists, together with scientists from NUST MISIS, presented the technology.

Architecture that generates energy

The new development is based on the Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) concept. It enables the transformation of architectural elements—windows, roofs, and glass walls—into fully-fledged power sources.

"These new-generation panels offer an optimal combination of transparency and efficiency. Each square meter can generate up to 150 watts of electricity while maintaining transparency above 30%, " Norilsk Nickel's press service reported .
Such panels not only let in daylight, but also protect rooms from overheating by reflecting some of the thermal radiation.

Essentially doubling employee number in next 6 years.

Rosatom will need 350,000 new employees by 2030.

The key maxim of the Soviet industrialization era, "People are everything," remains relevant in the 21st century. On the contrary, it's taking on new meaning. Companies that not only find and attract the best professionals but also know how to retain them win the competition. This was discussed at length at the 23rd International Conference and Exhibition "HR EXPO Pro People" held in Moscow, where Rosatom served as the general partner.
HR in Russia is more than just HR.

It is the same news in Arabic and Russian. showing what is considered important development.

Moscow specialists have created components for 6G communication devices.

Photonic circuits speed up computing and reduce energy consumption
Scientists from Moscow universities and research centers have developed the basic elements of integrated photonic circuits for next-generation 6G communication devices and neural network computing. The new components enable on-the-fly operations without wasting energy on storing intermediate data.
Researchers from MIET, Moscow State Pedagogical University, MISiS, and the Scientific and Production Corporation "Technology Center" have created energy-independent attenuators for controlling signal parameters in the sub-terahertz range. These devices reduce signal amplitude and can be used for calculations within the THz and sub-THz ranges without conversion to an optical signal, simplifying designs and reducing equipment costs.
he key material in the development was a phase-variable alloy of germanium, antimony, and tellurium (GST). It allows signal absorption to be varied depending on the crystal state, ensuring high-precision signal control.

Elements of photonic circuits can be used in neural networks to calculate the dot product of vectors, opening up the possibility of creating energy-efficient AI systems directly at the signal level.

Using such technologies in 6G networks will increase data transfer rates, reduce errors, and real-time resource redistribution. Scientists are currently adapting the technology for industrial production.
