As part of the contract, the companies for the first time in Russia implemented a joint project to replace imports of air filters for air supply and recirculation systems in the cabins of foreign-made aircraft. The production of filters according to the design solution of Aeroflot engineers was provided by experts from the A. I. Leipunsky Institute of Physics and Energy (SSC RF - FEI, part of the scientific division of Rosatom). Multi-stage testing of products manufactured by Rosatom confirmed their full compliance with the required level of safety. The calculated resource of domestic filters exceeds the indicators of foreign analogues by 20-25%, which makes them more cost-effective.
“Today, Russian scientists face an ambitious task – not only to provide various sectors of the economy with high-tech solutions that are competitive with foreign analogues, but also to make them more reliable and of high quality. I am glad to note that our joint project with Aeroflot fully meets the most important strategic task - ensuring technological sovereignty and import substitution. In aviation, as well as in the nuclear industry, there are extremely high requirements for the quality of equipment, so it is quite natural that our products turned out to be in demand,” commented Pavel Zaitsev, Director General of JSC Science and Innovations (managing company of the scientific division of Rosatom).
In parallel with the work on import substitution of filters, the task was solved to develop a procedure for requesting approval for the use of domestically produced components of the third class of category B (3B - components that do not affect flight safety) for their installation on foreign aircraft. This practice of using components developed, produced and installed on aircraft under special PMA (Parts Manufacturer Approval) procedures has been widely used abroad for a long time. The introduction of identical procedures in domestic civil aviation will increase import independence while maintaining a high level of security.
Rosatom plans to continue cooperation with Aeroflot in order to further expand the range of imported components for foreign-made aircraft.
