Why can’t the Chinese just use the WZ-10 for that role?
There's the geopolitical considerations that maybe Chinese leadership factored into this most recent acquisition with India not so far into the minds of Chinese strategic planners. Just a hunch.
That's exactly my concern ... it is the typical media hype in social media: just a simple report is misread as a rumour, the PLAN may get them is soon after three more reposts an already confirmed deal
The Ka-52 and WZ-10 are not in the same weight class. The Ka-52's MTOW is literally 4-5 tons greater than the WZ-10's. This is pretty important considering individual AsHMs weigh upwards of 2 tons.
If you want to carry heavy munitions like anti-submarine rockets or anti-shipping missiles you need a heavy weight helicopter like the Ka-52.
Why not to use the Z20 for that?

Because Z-20 is not an attack helicopter and it will take a number of years until the expected Z-20 attack helicopter variant is ready
Uh, the Z-20 is a transport/utility helicopter. The Ka-50/52 is a dedicated combat helicopter. It should not be a mystery why they would not use the Z-20.
To give you an idea of why this is important, the Ka-50/52 literally can fly twice as fast since it is a purpose built combat machine and not a flying taxi.
