22 Examples Of Peyton Manning's Insane Competitiveness............even if they don't matter now

Peyton Manning is one of the most likable athletes in professional sports so it is easy to overlook how insanely competitive he is both on and off the field.

It's that competitiveness that has him on the verge of winning his second Super Bowl and enhancing the claim that he is the greatest quarterback of all-time.

The intense anecdotes include cursing out opposing coaches, his sneaky first quarterbacks meeting in college, and his crazy work-ethic in high school.
-------------------------------------

Even when he gets a day off from practice to rest his ankle he still wears a helmet to listen to play calls and watches game film in the ice tub.

In high school, Peyton would practice at 4:30 or 5:00 every morning with his father, Archie Manning, and his brothers, Eli and Cooper.

He once showed up to the Colts practice facility at 4:00 am after a night game because he wanted to get work in before an 8:30 am charity engagement.

Outside of missing the 2011 season, Manning never misses a game.

Not only does he never miss a game, but he rarely even takes a play off, even in blowouts.

During Peyton's first quarterbacks meeting as a freshman at Tennessee, the other quarterbacks were an hour late because Manning locked the doors to the building.

To prove he could still play after the neck surgeries, he had some then-Colts teammates fly to Duke University and they replayed every play from the 2009 AFC Championship Game win over the Jets.

Manning has become good friends with Tom Brady and the two stars constantly pick each other's brains on how to beat other teams.

He is a stickler for details. According to his former coach, Tony Dungy, if Peyton says he is going to do something at a specific time, "you can set your satellite by it."

Despite a friendly personality, he is not afraid to get in the face of a teammate, even Jeff Saturday, one of his good friends.

He asked networks to turn down the volume on field mics so that it wouldn't be so easy for people watching TV to hear his signals.

After throwing 4 touchdowns in a cold weather game, Peyton addressed the critics of his cold-weather play by saying "Whoever wrote that narrative can shove that one where the sun don’t shine."

He overcame four neck surgeries late in his career and instead of retiring, he came back to have two of the best seasons of his career.

Before signing with the Broncos, Peyton asked for a media guide because he wanted to be able to recognize and know about not only potential teammates but also Broncos employees.

Even after wins, he is always intense when he has his uniform on as demonstrated by the death stare he recently directed at the owner of the Broncos.

Peyton cursed out Tampa Bay Bucs coach Greg Schiano after he rushed the Broncos on a kneel-down play.
"Peyton cussed him out. And I ain't never heard Peyton cuss."
When he runs a bootleg he won't even tell his teammates because he doesn't want their actions to give away the play to the defense.

He hates to alter his routine so much that he will make the media wait following a Monday Night Football game so that he can keep his regular Monday evening date with a cold tub

Even competition between the Manning brothers was designed to make the other brother better

Eli Manning on being tortured by Peyton (via Boston.com):
"...his most popular move, he would pin me down and take his knuckles and knock on my chest and make me name the 12 schools in the SEC (Southeastern Conference)," Manning said.
After his senior year of high school he took the captains for the next season out to eat and explained to them the importance of being leaders.

Well, thankfully its all over but the post-game , but yeah, that will prolly be worse than the game, I really feel bad for Peyton, and its all on him, very sad for an old war horse!

Watch out US taxpayers! There's a foreign scam going on via phone. This morning I got a call from someone who spoke English horribly telling me he was with the IRS and there was a serious issue with a family member and their taxes. I was suspicious from the start because I couldn't understand anything the guy said without him repeating it several times. I told him that person is not here and he gave me his name, Ben Brown (yeah... right!) and number. Soon as I hung up the phone he called again to weirdly make sure that the person he wanted to speak to was going to call back. So I checked the area code on the internet and it was from Ithaca, NY. Immediately I knew most foreign scams come out of New York and Florida. Then I Googled the number, 607-216-8884, and there were a number of results within the last week of people complaining about an Indian scam to take advantage of immigrants and the elderly saying they owe taxes and send them money or they'll be arrested by the police. Watch out for your family members.

I got a call about two months ago from someone with an heavy accent claiming to be from Microsoft telling me that my computer was infected with a virus. He stated the virus was detected by my server..And I needed to allow Microsoft to pair with my computer to run a special program... I said oh yea? I'll take it in to the local computer tech for repair. And hung up. I was born at night but not last night.

Like A.Mace I goggled his phone number and it was some scam being run out of India via New Jersey .

What about the ones coming out from Nigeria asking for seed money so that you can participate in laundering some long African dictators secret stash of money amounting to many hundreds of millions or some long lost relative has left you a large inheritance. So could you forward your bank account number and X amount of thousands to pay for legal costs and the money will be transferred shortly.

about the Microsoft scam. We actually experienced a scam coming out of an exclusive office downtown with the caller claiming to be a Microsoft sub contractor. It turns out he was occupying a genuine business office during staff lunch break. He might have been the buildings janitor ......while the staffs out to lunch I'll duck in here and and make a couple of quick scam calls.

We got 5" of snow (that's about a little less than 13 cm) early today and are going back into the cold weather. Highs in the 20 F range and lows in the single digit F.

Everyone stay safe out there.

Speaking of scams, I've received several scam/phishing emails pretending to be from Apple telling me to change my account password because someone in Switzerland was trying to buy World War Z with it...

Now they were quite clever with it because the first 3 times I received the email they actually contains the real Apple account management link, making you think that it really is coming from Apple. Then, from the 4th email onward the url was sneakily changed to something else that resembles a scam site (the rest of the message were the same as before).
