I have sold my two good recurves, my old Hoyt Compound has a nice machined riser, and two cams, I hurt my shoulder in PE last year, the fourth graders wanted to play dodge ball, (nerf tag for you politically correct fellow or ladies) , so I cranked the weight down. I saw another I should have bought, but thought I would go back later, it was gone???? So not much to look at, but still nice to shoot. I still shoot aluminum and feathers, I bought new arrows last year, but they seem to not want to group as well as my older lighter arrows with feathers, I am down to 5 of those??? LOL

I do have a few nice older Smiths, built on the N frame, I will see if one of the little women will give me some instruction on posting pictures, much like a bow, it requires concentration and good form to get a good group, although I have also taken several white tails with my iron sighted handguns, both 357 and 44 Mag.

I would like another recurve, but they are high, and I'm not sure how much weight I could shoot accurately for how long, I like the Black Widows and other high end take-downs, they are much smoother than the old Bears and Martins..... brat

You guys want to try carp hunting with a bow. The bow doesn't have to be fancy any old long or recurve bow with a draw weight from 30 t60 lbs would be good enough, although at the lighter end of the scale the arrow tends to glance off an approaching carp/koi . Those protective scales are very tough on large koi. I use fletch less fibreglass arrows with a reversible barb.

You're right, my son enjoys bow-fishing with his fiancé, and they have a fish fryer, he's quite the cook, and deep fries the fish and sometime wild morels. Myself, being a southerner, we never ate rough fish, mostly bass, blue-gill, some catfish, but I think it is really all about the "hush-puppies", my Mom made the most beautifull hush-puppies, which are also deep fried, with the fish and fried potatoes, and cole-slaw with real Mayonaise, you could die happy if you wished. AFB

actually, there is already enough "carping" on the forum already, just sayin. brat

I like steak & most Asian food.. and I don't care what's in it....really.

I've never been fishing, hiking, hunting etc.. and never will.

Well gents we gassed up the car Saturday and our cost was $2.73 a gallon for unleaded plus which is a 10% ethanol blend. Other blends of gas now cost .10 to 30+ cents a gallon because of the way they are now formulated.

fuel discount card. We saved .10 cents a gallon:). The more food you buy at Hy-Vee the greater the savings. Of course the normal price is $2.83 a gallon.

Why do I suddenly find myself in the mood for Chinese food?

Hehehe. I stopped by Panda Express last night on my way home!:eek: I love their Kungpo chicken... Yeah, I know. I live about 15 miles from China town and I should get authentic Chinese food. But the traffic on Bellaire, Southwest freeway and the inner loop is horrific, especially now Bellaire is under construction. We hate going to China town now. It just takes too long...

I noticed while we were out that gas is down to $2.79 a gallon for unleaded plus...that would be a good thing.;)

That is a good thing.

when we were in Houston last month, we got it for $2.89. but then later, relatives told us in some places it was at $2.65.

Yesterday the cheapest I saw here was $3.54, but I got 30 cents off tht because of my Albertson's purchase card which had 20 cents on it, and my Sinclaire card which gave me an additional 10 cents. Still, not close to your price...but at least headed in the right direction.

I really like the site,

You can find the cheapest price in the country, or in your state, or in your county or city as of that day.

Just remember, that in November 2008 (when the election was held...hehehe) the average price per gallon for unleaded in the US was $1.61 per gallon. Five years earlier, in November 2003, it was $1.31 per gallon. Oh, may those days return, because almost everything you buy in the store would come down in price too.

Here's some of the cheapest current Gas Prices around the country:

Laredo, TX - $2.53/gal
Oklahoma City, OK - $2.63/gal
Joplin, MO - $2.69/gal
Slidell, LA - $2.70/gal
Richmond, VA - $2.72/gal
Salina, KS - $2.74/gal
Cedar Rapids, IA - $2.77/gal
...
then out west here:
...
Salt Lake City, UT - $2.96/gal
Idaho Falls, ID - $3.02/gal

That last one irks me because the same station chains, getting gas from the same refineries in Idaho Falls, 300 miles away, are over 50 cents a gallon cheaper than they are here in Boise! Sheez!

Yep! Another proud Houstonian! I would be even prouder if the Rockets won the game last night, or the Texans won A game any time...

We got several Houstonians on this forum.

I miss the day when it was $0.78/gallon... I was in college at the time. And we were complaining out loud when it went up to a dollar/gallon. I would wish it would go to $1/gallon...
