To come back to your queetion, meat got a lot pricier than before covid and ukraine but you can still eat quite meat heavy without going broke, it always depends what quality of meat you want to buy.
Getting meat from the supermarket is cheaper than from the local butcher, so you do get your protein, but the amount of variety one can get with a small budget has decreased.

For those members that both understand 中文 & 日本话:

Is 東煌/东煌 read in Go-on as Tokō or Tonkō? And is this a fitting girl baby name?

I don't know the Japanese pronunciation, but for Chinese names as long as your child can explain the meaning of their name and understand your blessing for them, then it is appropriate. If gender is important to you, 东煌 is a male oriented name, not suitable for girls.

Thanks, is there a reason for its male orientation, is the sound 东 dong more association with male?

This is more complicated, and may not have much to do with the single word "东". Like "东凤" I have searched for a girl called this. The combination of two words is the key to the discussion.

凤 stands for Phoenix. And in Chinese, it is a convention, there will be a tendency to think that the phoenix is female.

We have members from Indonesia?

This video states that chinese 华人 of java have mostly disencouraged their children from learning mandarin in favour of english and bahasa indo, whereas sumatran chinese still practice Chinese, the man in video suspect the geographic proximity to singapore and penang for this.

Does anybody have a more causal explanation for this observation?
Questionee said he speculated because of business opportunities in the english speaking world and white saviour attitude

This is in Indonesia. I have been seeing hundreds of these videos of the same area of different times. Basically there are two slopes and the sector between the two are extremely steep and the roads are bad. Vehicles especially those with heavy loads take a hard time to cross that sector and those people who try to stop a trouble vehicle almost risk their lives doing so. I don't understand why Indonesian government doesn't solve the problem to make lives easier.
