I think you get the conversion wrong. 1 US gallon is only ~3.8L , so US$5.09 a gallon.

UK gallon is significantly higher ~4.5L

My bad! I copied most (if not all) conversion from Google into an Excel file. When I did that conversion I didn't notice the "im" in front of the gallon. Thanks for correction.

Hummph.. all I need a phone for is to call people. to me as a 59 year old man anything else is a waste of time.

I mean really..do we have to be on line all day? Nope I don't. My desktop suits me fine. But if others need an android or what ever.. so be it. Not me.

I have never owned a cell phone or a computer nor do I have a landline in my current apartment for a Internet connection.

The only way I access the Internet is at work or using my work supplied iPad which i use to connect to .the free wifi at my local bar or cafe. Sometimes the connection gets broken and this symbol flashes up informing me that I am now on data and the cost of that is being picked up by the taxpayer so I had better go or the boss will be having a few words with me.

You ever meet someone and every time you see them you just cant help but feel happy? Yeah.

Well as the saying goes ones first love is the deepest. At high school I had a girlfriend who gave me the flick for trying to chat up her cousin. I was so heartbroken i went on to enlist in the army to forget.Even during my ten years in the Army Aviation Corps I often thought of her. Actually I would not have seen her for about a dozen or so years and on a trip back to Australia last year I bumped into her.She was'nt how I imagined her to be and I have never thought of her since.

Re: this boat is bigger than an Arleigh Burke

Yacht? This thing is 590 ft long! It has a beam of 68 ft! It displaces 18,000 tons!

It is not only far bigger than an Arleigh Burke destroyer, it is also larger than the Zumwalt Class destroyers (which really should be classified as cruisers), and Ticodneroga Class cruisers, and Slava class Cruisers. Only the Kirov cruisers are bigger.

Oh, by the way, it will also do 32+ knots and is designed to cruise at 30 knots.

Supposedly Saudi billionaire, Al-Waleed bin Talal, had it built, at a cost of over $400 million.

I wonder if his personal security contigent had MANPADS and other nice toys on that baby....like say some 14.5mm or 20mm weapons, in addition to small arms.

If I spent that much and was operating such a vessel in any dangerous waters at all, where pirates might be tempted, I know I would make sure I could protect her.

This boat totally makes me think - a James Bond villain's flagship!

I just saw a commercial for RT America. I want that channel but Direct TV doesn't have it yet. I'd rather watch Current TV than Al Jazeera America. For all the criticism of Al Jazeera and it foreignness, it's really now a bunch Western journalists doing what Western journalists do. Now RT... that's hardball news journalism. Ironic for the Russians to ask the question you don't hear in the mainstream media.

RT's views of the West is an exact mirror image of the West's view of the communist countries. It focuses on the negatives, that are sometimes do not reflect the whole situation of the West. Pretty much the same as how NYtimes, CNN, BBC, AFP, etc, covers China.

There is a reason why the average American is very anti China these days. A lot of American mainstream media purposely focus on the negatives and are extremely bias against China.

My FIL who by the way is one of those folks people would refer to as a good old southern country fried 'redneck' went to China a couple of years ago and was actually SHOCKED that people are actually nice over there. Perhaps they were nice because they want his US$..LOL

Sure he saw his fair share of '3rd world' type issues like pollution, hygeine issues in the countryside and some 'weird' foods however I think he came away realizing that not every Chinese person is a communist american hating copycat thief.
He even said he liked a lot more people he met over there than many in his home state which coming from someone like him is quite the miracle.

You're pretty close, I use snail mail.when I'm abroad I often send my nieces letters/postcards with all sorts of interesting stamps on them. They really enjoy receiving the stamps and a handwritten letter.

Actually I have not trouble meeting up with my friends, most of them live within a easy drive of where I live.

where do you live? I have never met anyone in this day and age who does not own a cell phone, internet and land line. How does someone get in touch with you? do they just show up at your house or vice versa? do you just drive to someone's house unannounced?

I think you mean or.. I worked, he quit last week, with a guy that does not have a computer or use one. says he does not need it. He pays his bill by getting cash from the bank and driving around to pay his bills. He also did not have direct deposit for his pay check...
