A little over three years ago my best friend (my father) passed away. We use to sit in the patio of my home on a weekend afternoon, drink wine, eat olives, prechuto and cheese and of course listen to tangos. My father loved tangos and we would sit, eat and relax. To this day if I hear a tango, it reminds me of my father and I begin to cry like a little school girl.

Last night I was insomniac and was surfing the internet. I came across a young Chinese girl playing one of my father favorite tangos on the mandolin. The mandolin is a very difficult instrument to play, and she is playing a tango with such passion.

Hope you all enjoy.

Bravo! Bravo! oh how precious, little children are so precious, a beautiful little lady, making beautiful music, on an incredible instrument, thank you my friend, and thank you for expressing your sorrow at losing your own Papa! I miss my Dad, he has been with the Lord for 12 years, my sorrow at losing him is only tempered by knowing how broken he would be at the sorry state of affairs in America, and the world at large. I did strangely feel much safer with my Old Man around, and I would have never called him that to his face, well I may have once, but only once, but I do miss him, and his commentary on life in general!

Unfortunately it only works if your starting point is within the greater Austin area right now (since I didn't have time to travel to other cities). But it works reasonably well with the small set of existing data.

It was far from the best app at the class presentation, but I was proud of it nonetheless because I had zero web/android programming experience three months ago!

Any way, very glad that I am done with the class. Will have time to actually moderate the forum now.

... a week ago Monday (ie 24th November I was in hospital for a Cataract operation on my left eye (the right eye is due to follow next spring). Not an old codger by any means, I'm only 44!...anyway the next day the eye patch came off and for the first time since I was 12 years old I was able to see without glasses! Albeit with just the one eye. It was amazing. I could suddenly see colours again properly, as the cataracts in both eyes make everything slightly yellow or sepia toned. For two days I was in heaven!

I#m sure you can hear an 'Uh-Oh!' coming and you'd be right. Thursday morning I woke up and the left eye started to cloud over...

The good news is there was no infection, My eye apparently had a 1 in a 1000 reaction where it's immune system went to 'panic stations' after the operation and flooded the eye with white blood cells that completely obscured my vision, but with no infection to fight they just kept filling up. The Quack says we got to it before any damage was done and I was discharged today with a bag full of eye drops

Just hoping next year when the right eye is fixed I don't have to go through all this again...
Obi, I am sad to hear of your troubles...but glad also to hear that they have identified the issue and seem to have it in hand.

I hope it clears up completely and you go back to your initial condition after the procedure where your site was so good and that the same is the outcome for your other eye.

I know hospitalization can be strenuous and un-nerving. My six months down at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2010 gave me a life time worth of it...but also saved my life. We take so much for granted in our life...and then every now and then we have, or we see friends have, experiences that zero us back to what is truly important.

You are now officially on our prayer list...and glad to do it. Sincere prayer and sincere acts of faith always help.

Bravo Zulu!

My friend, my father passed away 11 years ago in January.

I miss him everyday to this day.

I was blessed to see him down in Texas just three weeks before he died. My brother who had terminal Lymphoma at the time was going through a bad time and we went down to see him...he pulled through for another six months. As I was leaving, my Dad gave me a very big hug and as we pulled apart, he said, "You never know when it may be the last time."

It was...and I cherish the experience.

But I know where he is, (and where my mother and two of my brothers now are too) and I know we will be reunited in the good Lord's own time. I do not fear that day.

God bless you...and may the memory of your father always be sweet and a comfort to you until you too are re-united with him.

Thank you so much my dear friend Jeff. I still get teary eyed, especially as I was reading your story about your final hug with your father. I tell you that not a day goes by that I don’t think of him and the sacrifices he made for the greater good of the family. I sense that you, as I, strive to be a good a man as our fathers where. It is reassuring to know that we will all be reunited again.

May God keep you healthy and well my brother so that you can be that good example to your children and grandchildren.

I'd just like to thank you all sincerely for your support over the last week or two, it was a scary experience but I'm emerging intact out the other side! I returned to work this week on Monday, my boss simply asked 'Are you fit for work?' to which I said yes, and it was back to the grindstone once more! Not too bad actually, it's been a quieter week than usual so not too strenuous. For those who don't know, I drive a 44 tonne artic ('Semi', or 'trailer Truck' in the US) for a living which is a very highly skilled job especially in this country where the roads are too small and the car drivers are very rude! After two weeks away from my 'ship' I returned to find the wing mirror had been broken (and repaired and there was a chunk of trim missing from the door frame. I've had that truck from new for two years and not put a scratch on it myself...
