What would be some uses of this type of network? Would it be primarily for military purposes? Or financial transactions?
Mostly propaganda/promotion efforts since the receiver would be jointly owned by China and the other country. A BRICS/BRI more secure connection network would be pretty cool. Unlikely for military.

QKD is a solution in search of a problem. Long list of issues that make it impractical.

Chinese researcher have shown how you can use Quantum computing power by Origin Quantum to do computational fluid dynamics research, which is widely used in aerospace, automotive, ship design & similar fields.

Looks like part of QC research is just figuring how to utilize it for applications that are not well suited in supercomputers.

Basically everything.

Got to remember what the network is, and what it is suppose to do.

The network is suppose to transmit data. The problem here data loss. You know how sometimes we speak on a phone, a land line or cell phone, and the voice cuts out? That is data loss. There are various reasons, for that, electrical interference could be one of those factors. To make a long story short, they more or less solved the problem of transmitting data without errors.

Now that the network works, the next step is to make this network secure from hacking. An ongoing project.

Quantum communications is the next step in the evolution of networks, and looks like China will put into it in use in scale way before anyone else.

"Chinese superconducting quantum computing power sold to overseas client"
"The computing power of China's independently developed third-generation superconducting quantum computer, Origin Wukong, was sold to an overseas client for the first time, marking the broader international recognition of China's homegrown quantum computing technology."

China has set up the country's first medicine research institute powered by quantum computing and data in east China's Anhui Province.

The Hefei quantum computing and data medicine research institute was officially launched on Sunday. The institute is dedicated to applying quantum computing power in the medical field and commercializing its research achievements..
