Hmm, is it only the Chinese marines special forces using/testing the platform at the current moment?

At least one PLA scout unit of the 38th GA are also using these.

I speak of that picture of that young soldier in Type 07 camo posted some pages back by by78. Reverse image searching that photo leads you to some kind of graduation page where the photo was described to be of a certain former distinguished scout soldier serving in a recce unit in the 38th GA.

Does the serial number mean anything to us? e.g number been produced?
The picture is too grainy to make it out, but it reads like "01005-2011-508". I'm not totally familiar with their serial numbering system, but IIRC the middle group indicates the year of production, in this case this'd be 2011.

However, typically this group of number is short-handed, i.e. it should be "11" instead of "2011".

What do you think that bolt above the trigger is? Fire selector?

As for computer, considering you can put an Apple A7 chip on a 5-inch iPhone 5 and still have room for battery, screen, gyroscope etc I am not quite following what you mean by not having 'high grade computer'... do you mean it won't run NOVA 3 on the highest settings? What do you think the ballistic computer needs to do exactly?

Functions for a system like this very depending on want. generally though you want a range finder to select get the distance of a object and a interface to then input the desired point of Airburst so a round knows to punch through a window and explode in a room rather then on the window or to explode over the enemy position and not on the wall behind them. you also want some Enhanced vision and magnified aiming. if your trying to compare based on the size of the optics and systems remember that the XM29 was a product of the late 90's early 2000's. If you consider the overall scale of the sight for this not just the optic but the base on which it sits which I believe to be part of the FCS and compare to the sighting system on the XM29 The Chinese unit is actually a little bigger. the system on the Neopup is rather basic and seems to lack airburst well the K11's sighting system is includes Day night, Thermal modes.
I suspect the PLA may skimp on the thermal and possibly use a more simplified night vision mode but the system has the size for a range finder and simple ballistic computer functions.

I have however never seen a picture I am satisfied with in regards to the the controls.

A picture of the box for the disassembled ZH-05 showed two scopes, one of which I presume is for night time operations.
