You said you'd choose a pair of boots over a rifle on a battlefield, because you deem the rifle is available as a choice, but not required. If the rifle had been a requirement, you would have chosen it or at least said it's a tossup between it and the boots, but you didn't, thereby effectively making a rifle optional.

If you truly think so, then by all means opt out of eating for the next 72 hours. Your stomach will remind you that food is not, in fact, optional.

What? I never said food is optional (compared to water). It was you who said you'd choose water over food.

No, that's not what optional means. And if you disagree, then try going without food for 72 hours.

How many times do I need to repeat myself?

No, that's exactly what optional means. I think you're confusing options with necessities. The two aren't the same. Necessities are often optional, depending on situations and perspectives. To a Nazi concentration camp guard, food for inmates are optional, but it's a necessity to the prisoners. To a financially struggling person who is in need of medical care, food as a necessity becomes optional so that he can skip dinners to save money for his health insurance. To a suicidal person, air, food, water, and other necessities of life are all optional to him.

P.S. You may repeat yourself as many (or as few) times as you'd like, because it's optional.

I came here expecting new informative posts, however this back and forth is just childish.

For the record, boots more important than a polymer handguard that may lose zero after abuse, because the rifle still works (ironsights and body mounted QMK still hold zero)... a foot injury - not so much.
