They look like PLAAF based on the rather distinctive and silly service flag patches. Almost makes me wonder why they bother with the rest of the service flag patch being low profile when you have that strip of light blue.

If those weren't there, they'd look much more mission ready externally lol, perhaps the most mission ready we've seen PLA operators for a while.

Though I wonder what sort of drill they're practicing out here in the open grass. The hand on the back is more for CQB and breaching in urban/confined spaces to my knowledge.
Two columns of four, so maybe they're just doing a breaching/CQB drill outside.

They are actually students from the air academy from what I've read.

According to this video,

it seems that those paratroopers are from the air assault detachment’s counter terrorism unit. So they are most likely the Leishen commandos. Plus I highly doubt those are students. The execution needs to be flawless and performed by people who know what they are doing.
Finished very well means not knowing where to aim with (Pic1) and the butt of the gun beyond the shoulder shooting (Pic2)?
Photos rather than images can cover up many flaws

That’s bad training. I know that even PLA spec ops have some major issues in regards to handling their firearms. They really got to overhaul their training regimen.

If they are using students to perform that demonstration, then shame on them. Students shouldn’t be performing those type of maneuvers.

This is the people's liberation army airborne air assault brigade subordinate units, not airborne special combat brigade under the unit,Leishen commandos is special brigade combat units

Man I don't understand why you think this is shameful, I think it's a win-win-win.

The PLA has a tradition of letting new recruits take the main role on outside operations (disaster relief, ETC), and I don't mean bullying. Here's an example to help you understand. At the end of a disaster relief operation, the brigade will leave early in the night, leaving the recruits to participate in the next day's send-off, which helps the recruits gain a sense of military honor.

In this case it was the same, with the starring role of the stage being given to the cadets. The plainly dressed and masked bandits were more trained who were likely to be formal members, but who would take many pictures of them? The cadets reaped the glory, the school stimulated the cadets to play better through limited participation, and we got great photos, I don't see who lost anything in this.

But students are not newly initiated recruits. Unless those "students" are graduates from their course and newly initiated air assault troopers, they shouldn't be doing anything of this sort. That is like making students, who are in the middle of SQT for the SEAL's or Robin Sage for US Special Forces, perform in an event like the yearly International Special Operations Capabilities Demonstration in Florida.
