PRC President Hu Jintao visits the USA

Coordinator?

I recall Mrs Hu flew in with President Hu. Right?

Security reason? In an emergency, anyone with the tie is your own. But seriously, I don't know.

It doesn't matter. The critics will find something to pick on.

Not when they meet Agent 47. He wears a suit with a red tie everywhere he goes. But he shan't be hard to spot as he's the only one with a shiny head and barcode tattoo on the back of his neck.

You could be looking at Flashbacks to the previous visit. Therewere a few of those when pointing out the Gaffs.

True, but Im sure you aware that when the Japanese or Koreans want to pitch a particular car at the Western market, more often than not they call in a European/Italian car designer as a consultant at the very least, if you catch my drift.

I think it's quite interesting sight to see the American ceremonial guards and marines bearing the Chinese flags. Honestly, I really think these are some of the things we see too little, instead of the anti-each other bashings. The last time I saw something similar was a photo of Chinese soldier as peacekeeper working side by side with an American marine. A sight like that is really cool to see. Given what we all now know, the 2 superpowers in the world are China and US, and to see them fighting alongside each other in battle is better than towards each other. When you pit these 2 armies together to fight as one, instead of fighting one another, god knows what they can achieve.

BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The following are highlights of Chinese President Hu Jintao's activities in the United States on Thursday, the third day of his state visit to the country.

-- President Hu held talks with Speaker John Boehner of the House and Majority leader Harry Reid of the Senate, calling upon the U.S. Congress to continue helping the two countries boost their relations.

Pursuing a healthy and steady development of China-U.S. ties is China's established policy and strategic choice, Hu stressed.

China is ready to work together with the U.S. side to enhance communication, mutual trust and cooperation, and work for a China-U.S. cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit, he said.

The Chinese president said parliamentary exchanges are an important part of China-U.S. relations.

China, he said, hopes that the U.S. Congress will continue backing and actively engaging in exchanges between the two countries' legislatures and make greater contributions to the development of China-U.S. relations.

-- Later, President Hu attended a welcome luncheon in Washington hosted by friendly organizations in the United States, where he put forward a five-point proposal for the further development of Sino-U.S. relations.

First, the two sides should bear in mind the overall interests, take a long-term perspective and make active efforts to advance China-U.S. cooperative partnership, Hu said.

Second, the two sides should seize opportunities and take innovative steps to build a new pattern of mutually beneficial economic cooperation. Both China and the United States are advancing economic restructuring, increasing inputs in environmental protection, new energy and technological innovation, and promoting the development of health, education and other social programs.

Third, China and the U.S. should intensify communication and consultation and deepen coordination and cooperation in addressing global challenges and international and regional hotspot issues, such as the Doha Round negotiations, climate change, energy and resources security, food security and public health security.

Fourth, the two sides should deepen friendship, be forward-looking, and vigorously promote friendly exchanges between various sectors of the two countries.

Fifth, the two countries should treat each other with respect and as equals, and handle major, sensitive issues in a proper manner.

-- On Thursday afternoon, Hu left Washington for Chicago to continue his visit, where he met local officials and would visit a high school.

CHICAGO, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao, on a trip to the United States, Friday visited an exhibition of companies operating in the U.S. Midwest.

Most companies present at the exhibition, which was held in Chicago's suburban city of Woodridge, are Chinese-funded ones.

During the visit, Hu encouraged Chinese companies operating in the United States to play a bigger role in promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

The success of Chinese companies in the United States is a specific example of the China-U.S. mutually beneficial cooperation, he added.

The operation of these companies not only yields profits for themselves, but adds momentum to economic development in the U.S. Midwest.

Hu flew to Chicago after finishing a visit to Washington Thursday afternoon.

He will wrap up his four-day state visit to the United States later Friday.

BEIJING, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Major foreign media have been positive in their coverage so far of Chinese President Hu Jintao's four-day visit to the United States, which began Tuesday.

AP said Obama was lavishing the grandest of White House welcomes on Hu as the leaders of the two powers looked for common ground on economic and security issues without alienating their domestic audiences.

"I absolutely believe China's peaceful rise is good for the world, and it's good for America," Obama said.

The Washington Post said Obama stated several times that the United States does not fear a stronger China and that Washington has no interest in blocking Beijing's emergence as a superpower.

It also said Hu's visit, in addition to serious policy matters, featured a fair amount of glitz. He arrived at the White House to a 21-gun salute and was sent off with a state dinner.

The Wall Street Journal said President Obama is looking to assure Americans that they should not fear China's economic rise, using Chinese President Hu's high-profile state visit to announce job-creating business deals worth billions of dollars to U.S. companies.

The two sides played down differences and stressed areas of cooperation, ranging from a plan to cooperate on nuclear security to an extension of the loan of two Chinese pandas to Washington's zoo.

CNN said at a joint news conference held by the two leaders, Obama praised a "spirit of cooperation that is also friendly competition." President Hu told reporters the countries' relationship is based on "mutual respect and mutual benefit."

Obama stressed common interests between the nations while toasting the Chinese leader at the White House, CNN said.

VOA said dozens of business deals this week will increase U.S. exports by more than 45 billion U.S. dollars and increase China's investments in the United States by several billion dollars.

AFP said that, during Hu's visit, the United States and China had announced a raft of trade deals worth 45 billion dollars. The deals, spanning sectors as diverse as agriculture, gasification, railways and hybrid buses, would support 235,000 U.S. jobs.

"The scope of Wednesday's deals were seen as evidence of the rapidly deepening business links between the two countries," AFP said.

The Los Angeles Times said in its report that two leaders "unapologetically acknowledged major differences on economic issues and human rights" in a White House summit Wednesday, but also pledged cooperation to stabilize relations between the world's two largest economies.

Obama said the United States hoped to benefit from China's "rapid and peaceful" growth, the report said.

The Times of India said, "China's President Hu Jintao arrived in Washington on Tuesday on a four-day U.S. visit that is being watched in every capital on the planet."

O Estado de S. Paulo, a local daily newspaper in Brazil, quoted President Hu's words, saying that China and the United States "stand to gain from a sound China-U.S. relationship, and lose from confrontation," thus they needed to discard the "Cold War mentality."

The newspaper also said the two nations both hoped to take the visit as an opportunity to rebuild mutual trust despite some frictions over the past year.
