PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (Sept. 6, 2013) - Harbor tugs assist People's Liberation Army-Navy ship Qingdao (DDG 113) as it arrives in Hawaii for a scheduled port visit. Over the weekend, Chinese and U.S. leaders will conduct dialogues to build confidence and mutual understanding between the two nations. The port visit is part of the U.S. Navy's ongoing effort to maximize opportunities for developing relationships with foreign navies to build trust, encourage multilateral cooperation, enhance transparency, and avoid miscalculation in the Pacific. Re: PLAN ships visit Pearl Harbor!

Actually both 054A and 052 have a similar beam to ticonderoga, believe it or not... It's just that ticonderoga is a hell of a lot longer, so when all three ships are berthed at an equal point in their respective hulls, the longest ship will naturally look larger from the frontal aspect.

An 052C or 052D won't really change it much, considering they are not much longer than 052 and only a little wider.

Which replenishment tanker escorted the FFG and DDG?

you may have missed this;

A naval fleet of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), which is comprised of the missile destroyer Qingdao, missile frigate Linyi and supply ship Hongzehu, arrives at the Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, the United States, Sept. 6, 2013.

Well, in English I do not know that "fleet" really applies, but this is a nce grouping, or small task force of PLAN vessels.

The key words in the announcement to me are, "the missile destroyer Qingdao, missile frigate Linyi and supply ship Hongzehu, arrived at Pearl Harbor...it will participate in a search-and-rescue exercise with the U.S. Navy. (Xinhua/Zha Chunming) "

These are the same type of exercises that the PLAN is slated to participate in in RIMPAC next year, so we may be seeing a "dress rehearsal," or planning for that exercise for next year here, in which case we ca expect a similar task force to come to Hawaii next year too.

Wow, a Type 054A alongside the Mighty Mo. Never thought this would be possible and it surely symbolizes the great advances that the two nations have come in terms of relations.

In order to tie up in Pearl Harbor all ships have to pass the Mighty Mo and Arizona Memorial.

If the USN post more photos today I shall post the photos in this thread.
