To me it still looks like the Type 903 platform with the rear control room modified on that edge there

Maybe it's just a modified unit using the lessons they have learnt from the deployments and operations and a not a entirely new class of replenishment ship

However more than that it's confirmed that we have yet another tanker in the pipeline so it's the 6th unit

Wow some serious work is going on there

Actually I think it is just a modified 903. The three holes have simply become four. If you compare that picture with the aft of other 903s you will see the size of the hangar, helipad rail guard, etc are all the same relative to hull size.

Can we confirm we have 2 x Type 903A under construction at GSI

Counting up the tankers we have

7 x Type 903/A

886, 887, 889 and 890

888 has been transferred from FLEC back to PLAN

Plus we have two new tankers under construction at GSI

Plus older 2 x Type 905

881 and 882

Plus a ex-Soviet tanker 885

So that's 10 replenishment ships in some stage or another for the first time we have double digit number of tankers in PLAN

Looks like they might be looking to finally close the gap in lack of on sea replenishment
