I don't know the time when this speech was recorded. It seems to be some internal "situation awareness lecture" for officials. Interesting point is at 10:10 where he said that "China's steam cat never finished development, it was not ready when EM cat was ready." It seems to me that (if we trust what he said) there could be no PK between EM cat and steam cat, a notion I always doubted. This also supports my suspicion that the two land-based test launching tracks are likely different versions of EM cats.

Another thing is that Ma Wei Ming is Major General again (from technical grade 3) since late 2017 after the reform in 2017.

"PK" was once a gamer slang that got wider usage as gamers grown up and become the main body of the society. In short, it's deathmatch...that's as far as a casual gamer like me can tell you.

In the context of the topic, we expected that there was a competition between the EMALS and steam catapult system and the former won out, but if we go by the "new revelation", it seems that EMALS completed all the trials whereas the steam catapult project was lagging behind to the point EMALS just won out by default.

Anyway, if and when Type 003 indeed have EMALS, its development story can be expected on CCTV Chanel 7...

Then maybe two EMALS variants were developed in addition to the steam catapult and entered a competition? The steam catapult never got that far and the development was stopped early?
