Well, the Hyugas are 20,000 full load. This one is 815ft long, a little larger beam, and so an additional 7,000 tons seems reasonable. They say 27,000 tons, I guess once she is fully outfitted and loaded with aircraft and their provisions we shall know.is that really 20,000 tons? even full load 27,000 tons seems bit short? looks to be >30,000 tons
If they just put nine helos on her and the provisions, fuel, etc, for that, maybe they can keep it at 27,000 tons...but she is capable of a lot more than that, and I expect should they completely load her up with 24-30 aircraft and all of the fuel, provisions, armament, etc.. for that, we may see that number increase.
They do have berthing for several hundred Marines. I would expect that in a scenario where they added more aircraft, they would use that berthing to accomodate the pilots, maintenance personnel, deck handlers, etc. necessary to accomodate the larger niumber of aircraft and have correspondingly less Marine berthing.what you state is more than likely true. However...is the berthing installed to accommodate a larger crew? JMSDF ships are not permitted to have berthing areas larger than 6 bunks per stateroom for lower enlisted. I state this because the more aircraft are aboard the more sailors will be required to perform maintenance.
Hi, popeye, is the use of the word stateroom for the space for berthing of six enlisted men also one of those Americanisms that amazes us Europeans?what you state is more than likely true.
