Unfortuanley he is correct..Jeez:( :confused: ..

What the hell is the big deal anyway? Has the PLAN discovered a new way to re-fit an CV or something?? Nope. I do not get it at all. What are they hiding? Nothing. The US knows how to build a CV. Knows how to operate them. And knows that it will take the PLAN 3-7 years to get the ship fully operational. So what's the big deal?????????

Hey can someone Goggle that shipyard???

You can go to this web site;

And read about the what the Northrup-Grumman shipyard in Newport News is building for the USN...That's called freedom of information.
you wouldn't believe if I tell you, but this is not even the stupidest hiding of information. J-10 is already out, but plaaf still does not release the information on J-8F. lol, nobody outside of China even cares about it.

I believe you. Ya' now if the PLA had any "super top secrect we gotta kill if ya' Find out" kinda stuff that would be different. Say something like a F-22..But do they? Who knows!! Anyway I'm really tired over all the secrecry over the Varyag. It is stupid.

About 4 years ago I found out that the PLAN had the Varyag and may be planning to put it to use. Since that time I've seen the same old pics over and over again. The same articles re-worded over and over again...Think about this we last got some "new" pics of the Varyag about three months ago. But how new are they? 6 months a year..what???? Who knows for sure??? I mean is it really that hard to get some pics of that ship? Oh well maybe some of those webmasters in the PRC with access will get the guts to post some somewhere..Until then boys all we can do is what I've been doing for 4 years..guess. and make casino jokes!

Re: Latest Varyag Pics

There would not be many new pictures release until 07, since everyone in the Chinese forums already are saying this from 05. Usually people will not release pictures if the ships are under construction, until the new process of modification of the Varyag is done. I would think we have to wait awhile.

the VARYAG could be renamed as SHI LANG and getting the number 83.
She could become part of Dalian naval akademie.

Thanks for that info. Thanks for the PM's. I wonder how true it is??? Well we can just sit and wait. My assumption is that the ship will have only limited capablity to go to sea...In that I am disappointed.

hers my guesses for how the ship is named:

1. shi lang is the name of a famous Chinese admiral, who lived in the ming dynasty. He worked under the famous admiral Zheng Chang gong, who recaptured taiwan from the dutch. how ironic.

2. under a different ying diao(pronouciation), shi lang means "test group" or "first of a kind"in chiense. this is a highly relevant name

3. under yet another ying diao, shi lang can mean "riding the waves". This isnt as likely as guess two.

I would say the Deng Shi Chang would be a possibility. Consider his reputation during Sino-Japanese Naval War.

I think, she will become a trainee-carrier;
a lot of things could be done at the pier - but landing at starting of helos and planes at difficult sea (rolling, stamping ships, by day and night) need practise by real trips, also deck-operations, hangar-management, cooperation with escorts and fleet support-ships, trainee of sub-hunting, AEW (also by helos), intercept of attack planes ....
a lot of important things can only be done at real trips - so I think, she should go to sea a lot of times;
:D
I am just wondering about "non equipment" like radars - we cant see those eq. at the pix, and these equipment should be installed before the last paintings happened ....

They'll probably name it how the Americans name it - after a political leader. I think they might name it after Mao Zedong or possibly Deng Xiaoping.
They might name it after a general though. Who was the commander of Chinese forces in the Korean War?
Or they could name it after a major city like Shanghai. I'm not sure if this will be a training carrier. It could start off as a instrument to train Chinese carrier crews, then once they are trained, it should become an official carrier - i don't see why the Chinese would spend even more money on a new carrier right after launching the Varyag.

That would be Pen Dehuai

Although "Shi Liang" is a good name for Varyag, I would expect it to be named after "Qi Jiguang", a famous general in Ming Dynasty who defeated Japanese pirates.
