I have a question: It is plausible that this is a large LHD like the Wasp class, but because China have no V/STOL aircraft, they mount a catapult on it to can operate jets like J-31?

It's possible but extremely unlikely. This is either a CV model or the real thing.

The biggest question now is why is the hanger so low?

The hanger is not low, it's exactly where it's meant to be, here's a picture of the Queen Elizabeth

I still believe looking at the dimensions of this module at JNCX it's a large LHD, the carrier it under construction at Dalian

I guess there is always a possibility just like integrating a catapult into the skid-ramp, but china probably wont do that for the same reasons that almost all?? other countries' LHD/LHA dont have catapult on them.

The first issue i can think of how is the non-V/STOL J-31 going to land without an angled deck.

There are probably other more teething issues that i am not knowledgeable to tell.

There is six decks below hangar on QE. We don't know their height. I've tried to calculate it from available images and gotten a value of (very roughly) 3 meters, but that is by no means precise.

There are four decks below hangar on this mystery module, plus another deck which isn't full height. We don't know the precise height of these decks but judging from other approximations, regular deck height may be around 2,3 meters.

The views/rumours on the chinese forums are that the module is just a sub-scale DEMO piece built to showcase CSSC's capacity to PLAN. And both Dalian and JNCX are building carriers. Liaoning-plus at Dalian and CATOBAR one at JNCX.

In these photos I do believe the bottom right photo is of an EMAL catapult in Lakehurst NJ. I'm sure the original poster was just using it to make an illustration.

Below the flight deck the Queen Elizabeth had 9 further decks below, the hanger takes the height of two decks, it's between 7-9 meters depending on the area where you stand

So each deck is about 3.5-4 metres in height, the module at JNCX is substantially smaller, QE is 65,000 ton and I can't see PLAN carrier smaller than that so that's why i guess this is a LHD
