The advantage of the ski ramp is that you leave it at about two third of speed necessary for a straight cat.
What you have described above is the limitation of a ski ramp. It is not an advantage.

So with the same acceleration the length of the cat and of the ramp is about half that of a straight cat. There's your advantage.

Having the same acceleration length as a catapult means a catapult can be put there to achieve launch without the need of your integrated solution. It doesn't highlight the advantage of your idea in any manner.

At the end of the day I would think it would be a very very difficult engineering challenge to put a cat on a curve surface. no offence but PLAN is not even masters of building 'normal' catapult launch systems yet and you want them to put cats that run on a curve deck? common!
It's one thing if it offers genuine advantages but it doesn't All this massive engineering hurdles to overcome and extremely difficult maintenance for very little if any return in additional capabilities.

Its more than clear that this catapult+sky ramp concept is a nonsense. China hasnt even deploy a catapult, let alone equip a carrier with both catapult and Sky ramp. Too complex, difficult and little benefit.

judging from the picture,if PLAN wanted to equip Liaoning with imported CAT,it may require extra space to house the rail, boiler and other associate equipment, translate to less fighters aircraft.

Care to explain why you think PLAN need to import CAT? Do you have links that the Chinese do not have the capability to build and design their own CAT? Plus which country would be willing to import CAT to China (note that not many country could do it, US is out of the question, France and UK might not be able to import that under the arms embargoment, Brazil might or might not have the capability to build, plus US would confirmed pressure Brazil not to sell the Chinese the technology that US deemed to be theirs in the first place).

First: not even the US can now export an EM cat, even if they wanted to.
Second: the length of the ski ramp in Liaoning is longer than a US cat.
Third: it must be possible to use curved steam cats but no-one will be 3-D printing a curved steam cat cylinder.

The purpose of the ski ramp is to give the aircraft velocity a vertical component to give the aircraft enough time to accelerate to flying speed in a semi-ballistic trajectory even after a single engine failure ( unless overloading the aircraft is even more important than that point of safety - think of the P-38's sent out to shoot down Admiral Yamamoto ).
The ski ramps of Adm K and Liaoning are long enough to enable a Flanker to reach its end with lift off speed. An aircraft launched by cat experiences a much higher acceleration and achieves that lift off speed in half the length of an ordinary cat. That means that the ski ramp can have the same length.
A medium sized carrier as Liaoning with two cats in a smaller ski ramp would have more more space to spot aircraft. A similar carrier without ski ramp will have even more space to spot aircraft but that includes space that will have to be cleared when aircraft are to be launched. If that respotting is not necessary you save on work for the flight deck crew.
Btw an EW turboprop will have a lower lift off speed and can use the same cats.

Alert!! New picture on carrier module in JNCX!! Looks like its going to be Carrier instead of LHA...

Waiting for A.Man or escobar to post new picture... :D
