An aircraft leaves a ski ramp at a lower speed than it leaves a straight cat. Building an EM cat into a ski ramp makes the ramp smaller and the cat shorter thus saving a lot of deck real estate. You might be able to make a smaller carrier just as efficient as a big one and have more carriers than an other navy with the same total capability and the same costs but with more flexibility.that would be kinda of counterproductive isn't it? I'm no naval architect but I thought the reason you use ski jump is because you don't have catapult and vice versa. Seemed like overkill to me not to mention an extremely difficult mechanical challenge to overcome!
An eyewitness at Dalian Shipyard has noted that the first module for the aircraft carrier is under construction. It is said to be part of the new carrier which will be based on the Liaoning; here is a drawing from the eyewitness.

there isn't. We don't get pictures of everything because Dalian shipyard is not that easy to take up close photos and also some people might be worried that they get put in jail. But if this stuff is for real, we will definitely see photos sooner rather than later.

is it harder than Jiangnan shipyard to take photos? it doesnt really matter, i bet the US surveillance satelites take photos of the main chinese shiypards every day!
