There are 30 years difference between cold war era satellite and the latest generation satellite A LOT of technology has advanced in between the time So Your knowledge about satellite is probably about 30 years behind
Rocket can be manufacture cheaper today and Nano satellite is all the rage now. Lidar is so common and cheap today that they are used in driver less car in combination with AI. Microwave radar has been miniaturize and use in brimstone missile. Supercomputer is reality and china has plenty of it So they have all the building block. All they have to do is getting lidar that can pierce 500 m into the sea in all weather
.

Daily watch means the satellite pass over the area once a day.
A ship can travel 1000 km between the overpasses.

A ship can travel 1000 km between the overpasses.

There are 36 satellite work out 60 minute interval that will overpass the same area add to that the relaying satellite that will pass the information to the next satellite so yeah you can have real time observation
30 knot = 35km

I believe Indian think tank did simulation of existence Chinese satellite constellation to see if they can provide persistent tracking of Carrier and their conclusion Yes indeed they can

All this like I said before is total rubbish

If you could track a carrier via satellite USN would have cancelled its carrier programme

Same way you cannot sink a entire Navy with a nuclear weapon at sea, just doesn’t happen

If you can’t track a carrier you are not going to track a submerged submarine

These are fanboy illustrations

Yeah some people like to stick their head in the sand just like the proverbial frog in the well

Hendrik_2000 is right , they have the capability.
There are a lot of satellite designed to hunt ships around the Chinese sores.

Those cover actually best part of the earth, but they designed mainly to give continuous coverage for the Chinese shores.

The CCCP did it in the 70s as well, with nuclear powered radar satellites.
they did it with two, flying tandem, first flyby detect the carrier, Oscar / Kirov potion itself to the last known point, and at the next flyby the ships dire the missile to the direction of the carrier, and the second US-A gives the final targeting fir the Granits.

Now, China has not only two radar satellites, but dozens of them, higher altitude ( wider observation area) than the US-A.

Two Chinese fanboys that wet dream over the most ridiculous claims

No need to be so gullible

No need to take their word as gospel but you don't have any authority to suggest this is definitely fanboy wetdream. They at least provided some evidence. You don't work in these fields so you are incapable of understanding what is possible and impossible. Therefore how can you have the authority to judge? The most vocal and ridiculous military fanboys can be found over at pdf. These guys are just posting things that are potentially possible, in fact probably have already been tested and fielded. There are literally no physical barriers to doing what is being suggested and it's been done decades ago using far less sophisticated methods and computers.

Again these reports are proving nothing

You cannot track a submarine from a satellite

The rubbish you have posted is basically google snapshots of some papers pretending like your clever

And trust me before you post on science do some research as I am published in National Academy of Sciences and many other reputable journals

Again like I said fanboys believe anything

IT wasn't about to track a submarine from satellite, but to track a carrier from a satellite.

China has around 30 optical and SAR ( synthetic aperture radar ) on orbit, made to cover the Chinese sea/ wet Pacific ocean.

So, even if half of them doesn't work because of age/malfunction they still can deliver targeting data for medium range ballistic missiles and anti ship missiles.

Eight of those are SAR.

The optical detection of submarines is a different topics, theoretically with blue laser it is possible ( 220 meter is the actuation length in water) but I doubt that it is possible in real life.

And it is possible to identify the operation area of a nuclear submarine, by the increased seawater temperature.

IT can clue the ASW aircrafts to the operation area of the submarine.
