If the hull is closed up the engines are installed. Otherwise the ship would have to be cut open to install the engines.

This video is over 60+ years old. But the basic construction methods remain the same.

That corresponds with the pictures available from Nikolaev shipyard, the engines are installed at a very early stage of construction.

All four engine rooms are accessible, although the hull is at an advanced stage of construction.

Nice video, thank you for that.

At 6:37 we see the installation of a gearbox, not a boiler. One boiler is seen later in the video. But it is shown "naked" without the maintenance catwalks and railings.
