Deino...is that the same dry dock that they built next to the Varyag when she was there being converted to the Liaoning, and then placed her in to work on her?

I believe so, hence all the excitement.

That entire pier was redeveloped for the Varyag/Liaoning restoration project, and it makes perfect sense that the Chinese invest all that time and resources on those facilities for more than a one-off re-fit.

I have long suggested that the entire site was developed as a carrier construction facility.

I do not believe anything else has ever been made in that part of the yard since the redevelopment, and that in fact that entire area is segregated from the rest of the yard by high security and anyone who is allowed access to the site are required to sign NDAs declarations. Very strict NDAs.

reposting the clearest picture we have so far, next two old pics of Liaonining in and next to the dry dock. Liaoning is 304m long, 052D is 156m, 055 is estimated to be 185m.
btw, anyone remember how big that Lifestyle 88 ship in front of Liaoning is suppose to be? maybe a good indication of how a destroyer should look in the dry dock.

Yes...this is the same dock and dry yard where the Liaoning was completed.

Well, after Liaoning was completed they did do commercial work in that dry dock...so we are going to have to wait and see more of what they are building in it now to confirm it is a carrier.

Here's a pic, after Liaoning was launched, with a commercial vessel in it.

Sorry, Jeff,
it is not the same dock. You can clearly see there are different docks at this pic. The new (last) pic is from eastern (zivil?) Yard, where the ex-Varjag was at first to be studied by chinese ingeneers for a long time
