I wonder if PLAN will model their naval aviation aspect after USN. All indications thus far is they will with very slight modifications to the way our very own cvw operates and rotates etc. Of course as they get more carriers coming online the aviation component will evolve to make best use of them operationally.
Carrier operations is totally brand spanking new to PLAN so it's no surprised they modeled after USN with minor tweaks for their own fleet and their operational needs. I don't hold them in disregard for that at all. I would too if I run PLAN or any other country's navy for that matter. Of course I am slightly bias.

Also what happened to all my likes? LOL Did the data migrate over to the new system?

They will be aiming for US standards and procedures in operating their carrier. But since they don't have the ships that the USN have they will have to make adjustments to those procedures.

In all the photo's that I have seen from the PLAN the crews looks stiff. I suppose these are official photo's and the crew are being told to pose like that for these photo's. I can't imagine them operating their ships like that.

There are 4 Flankers in that photo all in front of the carrier perhabs there is more in the back. I hope we will get more photo's soon or even better a video!

Were they parked there after serial landing as it doesn't seem to make sense to park them there for takeoff?

ps I really like the multiquote function on the new forum that allows you too add quoted messages from different posts as you go along in the same reply post.

Also popeye is still active at mp.net and there is a Chinese military photo thread there so sooner or later he'll see it.

Popeye's been visiting here and posting. So I'm sure he'll soon see it if not already.

The last aircraft is still blocking the runway after landing.

Maybe that's the last one for now so they are not in a hurry to move it?
Or maybe they were doing some other training.

That is awesome! I bet there are another 4 behind the cam! I think the sailors look stiff because they were told to pose. All the videos about CV-16 carrier ops show that the sailors are professional and move smoothly as CV professionals do.

BTW, I like the new look of the forum. I see that everyone got new avatar. I still like my old one...

That photo was picked up pretty quick in the US.



They seem to base their conclusions on a CGI they think is a real pic.
