PLAN-CSG-Models.jpg

anyone know the context of this photo? posted by Jeff in the J-15 thread.
It seems to be some kind of defense logistics equipment exhibit.
the two red signs emphasis at sea replenishment and casualty transfer equipments.

the green trucks depicted as models also in the poster seem to be specialized logistic equipment for Liaoning.
I think we've seen these trucks before in a video about logistics support for Liaoning. PLAN seems to have containerized and motorized all the special equipments necessary to support Liaoning operation. perhaps because Liaoning doesn't belong to any of the three fleets and as we've seen in the recent SCS deployment is expected to operate from different home ports. the mobile logistic vehicles can quickly deploy to any port Liaoning is going to operate from.

Hmmm.

I know it may be nit-picking but why are the uniforms green?

Shouldn't they be blue-ish (at least)?

Does China have female marines?

They are from the army not the navy. PLA army uniforms are green, navy's are white, and air force's are blue. I believe that PLA marines wear navy dress uniforms with their own insignia.

Marines in the PLA is just a sub-branch of the Navy, a very insignificant branch. So they wear regular Navy uniforms.

Here's a pic of a Marine Officer.

The badges etc indicate Army, and the posters in the back are basically trucks in various situations. I would guess this exhibit probably belong to some logistics portion of the army. btw, the ships in the diorama are not in the proportion with the trucks.

Assuming that only Naval personnel were allowed to attend the exhibit, then yes, the uniforms should have been blue :p

I think it's extremely unlikely that the Chinese Navy would build 4 new carriers and have them all operational in 6 years.

But, I do think that we'd see a 2nd carrier at sea within 6 years.

I believe that this thing about China having 4 Aircraft Carriers is has been misinterpreted or taken out of context. There is a high probability that PLA-Navy will have their second Aircraft Carrier by 2020, not all four A/Cs.

Although, having said that ...... a part'a me is sayin that it'd be awesum if China has blacked-out any coverage of building all three at the same time and gives the world a shock by unveiling all of them in the same year .... 2020!!!!!

But the former is most likely to happen

I believe it is possible that the PLAN could build two carriers at once.

Their have been some pretty good rumors to that effect. One to be built in Shanghai and one in Dalian.

But that will most likely be the extent of it in terms of rapidity.

Since the end of World War II, the US on one occasion had three carriers under construction at the same time...but that was over forty years ago.

It would be very impressive to see the PLAN building two at once.
