In live combat they’d be dead if they got in position too past. By being slow they can ironically save the lives of the soldiers.

The TB-001 is definitely flying over the Taiwan Strait, though most likely well within the 12 nautical-mile "territorial sea" boundary.
Not necessarily, these modern day EO systems can image from 100+ km away easily.
Which other occasions has the 12nm boundary been "violated" in the past?
