PLA Strategy in a Taiwan Contingency

To be fair we can't exclude the port side has a missile or two.

But yeah that starboard wing is looking a bit empty.

I'm sure the cannon is loaded(?), so it also has that...
That is true, but from the photo it appears to be no missiles on it, what I find quite odd

Here in Yilan, the Democratic Progressive Party places equipment next to temples, as well as renovation companies, shoe store companies, PX Mart supermarkets, and Chaosi Dan, etc. All of them are placed in those places where people live.

what do you expect them to do ? hidding among civilian use them as moral/human shield is "one stone , 2 birds" dirty but work wonder tactics

specially toward china's gov and mainland population . still not able to get out of moral trap , still want to take taiwan with the most humane war as much as possible

MLRS salvo to the south. Even more accurate than that to the north, literally hitting the same spot

Satellite images have captured what appears to be the impact point of the salvo.

The impact point is approximately 400 kilometers from the coast of Fujian Province, only 9 nautical miles from the island, and 20 kilometers from the temporary base of the Zuoying Haifeng Brigade of the Taiwanese Navy.

If this is confirmed, then we can declare that the entire island is within range of 370mm MLRS meter-level precision strike.

The video clip of the southern launch were 300mm rockets (able to be identified because the four rocket tubes per crate have a central supporting cylinder in the middle, while the 370mm rockets have a crate without a central supporting cylinder). Either the PLA's media department had mixed up footage, or maybe there were multiple sets of 300mm and 370mm rockets launched from both the north and south.

Because tt is viable for the 370mm rocket to have a 400km range. The export range of the 370mm rockets from a few years ago were basically 300km for all intents and purposes (like 290km or something for MTCR), so having true range for domestic versions not limited by export requirements, and potentially having newer variants compared to 3-4 years ago, could see an effective range of some 400km.

It would be much more impressive and somewhat surprising if the 300mm rocket was able to have 400km range.

They might have been scrambled for surveillance purposes with a strict do not engage order.

The F16’s wings actually want to be carrying wingtip missiles to reduce wing flutter. This is why it’s so rare to se F16s without wingtip missiles/payloads during flight.

This means they actually took extra time and effort to unload the F16 of what would be its default flying load out of missiles on the wingtips even if those missiles were just dummies or training rounds.

300mm and 370mm rockets both included, either they mixed footage from other shooting times, or the unit loaded 300mm and 370mm rockets.

The Americans can develop PrSM, it's entirely reasonable that the PLA could also produce similar super extended-range rockets.
