Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson of the PLA Eastern Theater Command: Starting from December 29, the PLA Eastern Theater Command is dispatching its Army, Navy, Air Force and Rocket Force troops to conduct joint military drills code-named “Justice Mission 2025” in the Taiwan Strait and areas to the north, southwest, southeast and east of the Taiwan Island, focusing on subjects of sea-air combat readiness patrol, joint seizure of comprehensive superiority, blockade on key ports and areas, as well as all-dimensional deterrence outside the island chain. With vessels and aircraft approaching the Taiwan Island in close proximity from different directions, troops of multiple services engage in joint assaults so as to test their joint operations capabilities. It is a stern warning against “Taiwan Independence” separatist forces, and it is a legitimate and necessary action to safeguard China’s sovereignty and national unity.

Edit: this poster hints at the possibility of the exercise being a response to the recent sale.

Edit #2: ok they also directly mentioned the sale as the reason for "justice"

Thank you Pelosi.

The fact China can normalize a virtual encirclement blockade for a day and no one bats an eye anymore because it's the new normal is kinda crazy. This is great realistic practice for a real encirclement training.

Initial thoughts: These zones are MASSIVE compared to past exercises like Joint Sword A, B, and Strait Thunder.

Also, the language on practicing a blockade and A2/AD operations is much clearer. Even the poster for the exercises demonstrates a clear intent to keep the U.S. and allies away from Taiwan.

By @JaimeOcon1. We should see a map overlay anytime now...

Also, it's interesting how "all-dimensional deterrence outside the island chain" is written as 外线立体慑阻 in Chinese

Can someone overlay the 12nm territorial sea limit on this one? Want to see how close the exercises are getting.

China should straight up disrespect that limit as Taiwan's de facto boundaries are not defined de jure. Send a J-16 over the Taipei 101 dumping flares for one of the most iconic photos of the 21st century.

Former JASDF major general’s take on recent Chinese activities: BVR radar illumination over 150km suggest PLAAF's incapability or lack of confidence of dogfight; the most capable weapon on J-15 is the PL-12 so it cannot fire on target further than 100km.
I guess JSDF secretly procured time machine from Doraemon and send all the troops from 20 years ago. /s

They can ask the Indians if it's safe to assume that Chinese air to air missiles can't reach you from 100km away... but they won't get an honest answer. IAF pilot on strict orders to keep 300km or more between his Rafale and Pakistani airspace at all times be like, "No biggie; Chinese crap probably reaches 20-50km on a good day. Go for it."

Actually chinese missiles are only good for visual range. Japan should fly planes with no concerns for any chinese missiles.

Bro PLAAF flanker has gotten the upper hand on F-15J in dogfight many many times, here's a drawing depicting one famous case where the crowd at an air show saw JASDF doing emergency take off with F-15J so they knew something was happening.
