PLA Small arms

That doesn’t mesh with how police shoot out actually play out.
An undercover officer doesn’t have the luxury of backup and are often outnumbered. Besides. This isn’t really a pocket watch sized pistol especially if it’s large enough for an accessory. I could understand if this was a micro compact pistol. But at this size and use case. If you need to fire it in anger more ammo per magazine is better than less.

I think you bring up another possibility. Many Chinese (and other Asian countries) police are still issued revolvers (if any firearm at all). Since firefights are highly unlikely with the limited number of gun-armed criminals, they don't really value high capacity (limiting collateral damage). Might be an alternative to revolvers.

@supersnoop the issue revolvers or one of the single stack semi automatic pistols Norinco already has in 9x19mm.
It just seems like they started on the path to a modern CC sub compact then at the last minute said “nah”.
It’s like the DMC 12. It’s got the looks of a super car but the engine is such a joke that it take Hollywood special effects to make 88 mph.

If I didn't misread what you're saying, then yes I'm talking about replacing police revolvers with this new pistol.

It could be that they are seeking police sales rather than military. It makes sense for Chinese police to replace revolvers with semis. For example, commonality in training between beat cops and other special armed police. If a beat cop is firearms qualified (again, pistols are not standard issue), perhaps it makes more sense to qualify them on something more modern and in line with what they would be issued if they join something like SWAT. Unlike somewhere like HK, Japan, Korea, there is no history long history with revolvers, so there is not much institutional knowledge to lose by getting rid of them.

Another consideration is that Norinco is an export company, basically a marketing agency for a group of factories in China. Within China, there is more competition between factories, so those other pistols could be from a "competing" factory.

Just throwing out some ideas of course.

Well it does make sense to eventually join the modern world and ditch the revolvers the point I am trying to make is the magazine capacity for this is anachronistic. If the aim was just to have a semiautomatic for police well the CF07 already exists with the same capacity. And being a single stack single feed it would be more reliable than a double stack single feed magazine.

Plus it has more in common with the QSZ92A. So there is your common training. Where as the QSZ193 is a Striker fired double stack single feed. It makes more sense in comparison to other international commercial subcompacts except for that 7 round capacity.
