So finally we have regular appearance of the box mag for the 201
I notice that all photos have the "pouch" wrapped around, it appears that this is how it is issued?
So you can just directly attach to the tactical vest without needing to use up a pouch.
Does any other country do it this way?

Some US units use the "nut sack"/soft ammunition pouch for the M249/Mk46:

Yes, the pouch is obviously not novel, but I haven't seen a picture of a bare box, even at exhibitions
I am guessing that is because they come out of the factory that way.

The pouch is not wrapped around a box. It is just a pouch.

Also, slightly off-topic, but the machine gun with an Elcan in the image posted above is an M240L, not an M249.

That's kind of interesting, I did not realize that the pouch was the magazine!
Is there any other standard issue magazine like that? Can't think of it...

I didn't look closely at the pic, the Elcan just stood out to me like an old friend.
