independent Chinese companies are beginning to make and market all the pimp my rifle gadgets. PAP and local police SWAT units seem to adopt these things faster. pic from a Chinese police equipment trade show.

that's been around for years. But there still seems a delay as of last year PAP teams are known to have been using CQ's which are M4 clones.

Most of those weapons are essentially same or just different variants.

My review of the new T97.ca FTU (flat top upper) that enables better optics mounting on the Norinco Type 97.

to which I reiterate the sequence of posts
Well, the US military alone has half a dozen AR-15 variants in service plus the SCAR and HK416. It's not odd at all for the PLA to find some weapons more suitable for the type of warfare specific to particular branches.

I also point back to my earlier post listing Israeli, Japanese, Georgian, Slovakian army issue which included a mix of different systems add to it the Australian and British who both issue a Bullpup for there standard issue and a M4 variety for special use.

I think they should have kept the original trigger guard for the compact. It offered a convenient location for the shooter to place his hand and away from the barrel, well still being controllable and easy to maneuver in close quarters. Its the same concept as the grip on the FN P90. Heck a new American maker has now even copied that feature. At the shot show just a few weeks back Desert tech showed off their MRD C bullpup that featured full mil spec rails, a 10.5"barrel, forward ejection and a modular pistol grip that featured a enlarged trigger guard similar to the one on the QBZ95.

the new guard has me a bit concerned that a shooter in the heat of the moment might place his hand in the wrong place and get hurt.
this could be alleviated with the addition of a simple guard taking the form of say a sling point or a barrier that would give the shooter a easy to identify point of reference.

The change of trigger guard is primary due to the new grenade launcher, which its trigger unit looks a lot like that of the FN EGLM. The old grenade launcher could only mounted on the rifle variant, but the new one can be mounted on the carbine variant as well.

Look at the weapon closely. It's not the Same ZH05 we once saw. The 5.8mm part looks to be gone. look at the way the soldier is holding the stock. there is no mag well there what we do see is the large magazine in the conventional location.
As to the helmet, It looks like they are cutting to ACH style.

It does not look like the ZH-05 because it appeared to be more compact and "fatter" than what we have seen before. But in fact, the BBS consensus is that this is infact a ZH-05 with its bullpup-styled grenade magazine removed.

The 5.8mm carbine protion can be clearly seen, but the grenade launcher barrel is still not very clear. Probably recessed/integrated into the upper...

As for the overly large 5.8mm magazine; there were rumors infact that the 5.8 chambered in this weapon is the heavy 5.8 LMG variant and not the standard assault rifle variant, which requires a different magazine.

Here's a contrast adjusted picture.
