It depends on how heavy is the iron ball for the lever effect to be usefull. An iron ball that's heavy may end up being too heavy on the end of the stick for one to throw effectively. OTOH, a iron ball that's too light for one to throw will benefit from the lever effect of using a stick.

I thought it is the other way round, a heavier iron ball moves the centre of mass further toward the end of the stick, increasing the distance from the pivot point, so with the same angular acceleration translates to higher speed. (if we assume same weight for both type of grenades.)

Or mabye it has to do with the more comfortable hand grip.

I should not have said it had a lever effect. The force at the hand grip is magnified by the length of the stick from the grenade end to the hand grip. The idea is to maximize the acceleration at the grenade end and increasing the "let go" speed. This only works if the force magnification at the hand grip isn't too much for the soldier to handle.

Ok so it is a compromise between angular acceleration of the grenade via wrist flicking vs the larger linear speed for the same angular speed achieved given a longer handle.

personally i think this is the best face of the J-10, air demo team paint job usually does not make the plane look better, but this BaYi paint job brings out a sporty and sharp look to the J-10, or maybe because PLAAF camo is just boring

Saw it a week ago lol... Pretty intense way to play hot potatoes. If one of the guys wasn't paying attention every one would go kaboom.

Hot potato with live and cooking Ammo... I am not sure If I should be impressed or disturbed. That stuff is always always made by the lowest bidder.
